Learning disabilities can alter the way a person learns, processes information, and experiences the world around them. You may have heard of the following:

🧠 ADHD – difficulties with attention, focus, impulsivity, and hyperactivity
📚 Dyslexia – challenges with reading, spelling, and language processing
🔢 Dyscalculia – difficulties understanding numbers and mathematical concepts
✍️ Dysgraphia – challenges with handwriting and written expression
🤸 Dyspraxia – difficulties with coordination, movement, and motor planning

Learning Disability Week is an opportunity to raise awareness, foster understanding, and celebrate neurodiversity.

It reminds us that:
💙 Everyone deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported
💙 Greater awareness helps reduce stigma and misconceptions
💙 Every individual has unique strengths, talents, and ways of learning

With the right understanding and opportunities, people with learning disabilities can thrive at school, in the workplace, and throughout everyday life.

I bet you’re wondering how the Practitioner Coaching Framework (PCF) journey began? Marija, our Evidence, Innovation & Practice Manager, explains this in her recent video 😊

Tantrums, tears, frustration and overwhelm are all part of growing up — but children don’t have to navigate those big emotions alone 🌱

Co-regulation is the process of helping children manage emotions through calm, supportive relationships. Before children can self-regulate, they first learn by “borrowing” the calm of trusted adults around them.

We know that emotional support, connection and understanding help children build resilience and confidence over time.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can say is: “I’m here with you.” 💚

Did you know?

Roughly 1 in 4 Australians say that they can’t survive the day without their coffee fix.

And… 1 in 4 women have experienced intimate partner violence since the age of 15.

That’s a statistic we simply can’t ignore.

We’re proud to celebrate the commitment our staff have to reconciliation and to continuous learning about the history of First Nations.

Earlier this week, a group of us took part in the Aboriginal Cultural Walk at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Aunty Sherry who facilitated the walk deepened our understanding of First Peoples’ heritage, living culture, and connection to Country through the plants and landscapes of the gardens.

Experiences like this encourage reflection, deeper understanding, and meaningful conversations, helping us continue strengthening the way we support our communities every day.

Thank you to our team members for embracing opportunities to learn and grow together. 💛

From helping participants navigate their funding, to building strong relationships and making sure invoices and supports are running smoothly.

Follow along as we spend the day with one of our amazing Plan Managers, Elaine, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the work that helps people access the support they need with confidence.

It’s all about making the NDIS simpler, more personal, and easier to navigate 💙

Pride Month is observed each June as a time to recognise and learn about the history, experiences and contributions of le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r and other diverse communities 🌈

This month, take the opportunity to learn and understand terms related to gender, sexuality and identity, and reflect on the importance of inclusion in everyday life - in workplaces, schools and communities.

At its core, Pride is about recognising diversity and supporting environments where everyone can feel respected and included. This is at the heart of what we do every day.

Introducing our new NDIS and disability sub brand 💜

We know that finding the right support quickly and confidently matters. That’s why we’ve launched a new sub brand approach designed to make our services clearer, easier to recognise and more aligned with the NDIS community. After listening closely to families and people, one thing became clear - people feel more confident when services speak the same language as the sector they’re navigating.

Our new sub brands for Plan Management, Support Coordination, and Early Intervention & Therapy Services maintain the trusted strength of the Windermere name while creating clearer pathways to the supports people need. You’ll also notice the introduction of the recognised “We Heart NDIS” symbol and NDIS purple throughout our branding, helping create familiarity, trust and confidence for participants.

Watch this video to learn more about the research and thinking behind the change 🌟
