22-year-old clocked 63km/h over the speed limit through roadwork zone in Clyde North.
At approximately 12.25pm today, police from the Casey Highway Patrol detected a black BMW sedan travelling at 103km/h in the 40km/h roadwork zone along Thompsons Road at the intersection of Clyde Road.
The vehicle was intercepted, and police spoke to the driver, a 22-year-old Clyde North man who claimed he had no idea why police had stopped him.
A strong, unmistakable smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle lead police to locating a quantity of cannabis as well as a prohibited weapon, both located in the man’s bag.
The BMW was impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $1,120.50, and the driver will be summonsed to the Frankston Magistrate’s Court to explain to a Magistrate why he was driving at excessive speed, along with the other possession offences.
