Welcome to Kapsali Farmakeío!

We're changing the name to better reflect what we'll be doing going forward. ‘Farmakeío’ is a bit of a play on words – it’s Greek for ‘Pharmacy’ – but those who know us well, know that we do things [very] differently here when it comes to that sort of stuff 😉 While we are still farming and providing consulting for pastured poultry and small farm start-ups, our focus is shifting more to regenerative and sustainable health, specifically with a focus on homeopathy for families and farms.

If you’ve been following us for a while you’ll know that homeopathy is our principle form of healthcare here for both people and animals and we believe it is one of the reasons why our girls were/are always so happy, healthy, and produce such fantastic eggs. And as anyone who’s been here will tell you, people rarely leave without having had either a lengthy conversation about homeopathy or with a remedy custom made for you 💝

So Lisa’s upping the ante! In three weeks’ time she will be commencing two years of rigorous study with RMDY Academy to become a fully qualified homeopath! 💃 While the knowledge of acute care gained through ad hoc study and learning on the go over the last 13 years has been thoroughly worthwhile, we know that she hasn’t even scratched the surface of what the modality is truly capable of, particularly when it comes to chronic health issues. This study will provide the necessary exposure to fill that gap and more.

There is a growing cohort of practitioners around the world using homeopathy in rural contexts, which we intend to become fully entrenched in. This isn’t just for people and it isn’t just for animals, but also farms, landscapes, and plants. We cannot wait to see what the coming years bring as we learn new techniques and refine existing skills and share these with others. Our little world on top of our mountain will no doubt be the better for it!

Watch this space for more! 🧐

It's been 3 years since I last cut firewood. I've said it before and I will continue to, cheap log splitters aren't worth the hassle. Go to and hire a Superaxe. Life is too short to spend your time trying to keep warm.

I won't get into a saw discussion, buy somewhere with local parts/service. We obviously preference our Swedish friends (just bought another one, not for firewood though). My father's first cousin designed their air filters back in the day, call it patriotism

27 years ago we took a chance on a little romance and look where that got us 😂 Here's to the next 27 years 🥂💕

It's a poignant day for our little community. When we first moved here, we knew no one, had no mailing address, no mailbox, no postbox, and in fact no actual address, just a lot and DP number. We were however warmly welcomed by a number of people, some still here, others have moved on. Many people reached out to help in any way, I think they felt sorry for us, living in canvas, on top of a blustery mountain. Two of the people who we got to know very quickly were John and Margaret Wilson at the Branxton Post Office. Somehow mail found its way to us even if spelt wrong, or numbers were mixed or confused. Few delivery people brave the trip up the hill, so most trips into town see us stopping off at the Post Office, with a smiling face on the other side of the counter...most of the time, unless it was really heavy, in which case, Peter's whereabouts was always questioned 🧐

Today is John and Margaret's last day running Branxton Post Office after 23 years, with our beloved community hub as we know it moving to Huntlee and John and Margaret settling into their well earned retirement.

We often felt a sense of comradery with John and Margaret; like eggs, with the mail, there's really no off button. The Post Office is obligated to serve our community, just about every single day. Good times and not so good, through sickness, floods, drought, fires, there's always the post, and always the Post Office. Under John and Margaret the Post Office remained a traditional source of local news, occasional gossip 🫣, and somewhere to have a yarn as we all go about our daily lives.
We thank John and Margaret from the bottom of our hearts for welcoming us as they did, often recommending or connecting us with people that we should chat to and always taking a genuine interest in our family and farm. Lisa and Ada will certainly miss chatting with you about your mutual love of dogs ;)

We wish our friends all the very best! You're welcome here anytime 💕💕

The MiniTaj!

We're still running a small flock of hens for land management. As such, the girls needed something to live in with the big Taj MaHens having gone to their new home.

We wanted to retain the core design principles of the big ones. Mobile, insulated, onboard perches-nests-feed-water, and lighting.

The main new addition it the aerator pump on the tank, the primary reason of which is to succuss homeopathic remedies.

The MiniTaj has been operating for several months now and it's working very well for all.

Full moon rising over the Mini Taj. Operational, not quite finished. It's the ultimate small flock mobile coop. Tour pending once the part arrives. Just like the original Taj MaHen, only little.

We've had excellent rain here the last 3 weeks (about 110mm), the place is alive with wonder again...a little late in the season, but it's responding well nevertheless.

Today marks 10 years since mother nature huffed and puffed and blew our tent down, swiftly bringing an end to the first 99 days of our tree change adventure 🌀🌬 ... We estimated at the time that we were getting 60-70km/hr winds which doesn't make for a very homely feel when your house is made of canvas 🤣. Worse still, this all happened at about 3am.

When we first arrived here from Sydney the intention had been to live in the tent for 6 weeks while the shed was being built and then we'd move into it and 'rough it' while we built the house... oh, the naivety!! We had not factored into the plans the actual time it would take to excavate the shed and tank pads; the power of the local wind; planning permission delays (yes, we were living our own very long Grand Designs episode!). And finally, we got ourselves an excavator - so there goes our immediate plans for the house...

So ... while waiting for our shed to be finished, we then took up residence in a shipping container ... not one of those snazzy tiny house numbers you see on TV though ... no, we got ourselves a leaking construction site office...

A few stats:
- 98 days in a tent
- 322 days in a 20ft shipping container
- 388 days without an oven
- 286 days showering & toileting (camp loo then port-a-loo) outside
- 2 bee stings, 1 scorpion bite, 1 sprained ankle, 1 crushed hand, 1 cut chin, & a 2nd degree burn
- 2 mice in the tent, 3 frogs in the container & a chopped up baby brown snake in the camp washing machine!

We had (and still do) have awesome neighbours who welcomed us to shower at their place - a big relief when winter really hit!

We "packed" for 6 wks, but managed to live like that, reasonably well (sort of) for about a year. What it taught us is there's many things in life that you don't really need and life on the land changes your shopping habits, rather quickly. Eg, you can never own enough chainsaws, excavators, trailers, pumps, water tanks etc. Running water is 👌, as are flushing toilets, hot water, and shelter from the elements - we've endured flooding rains, droughts, sleet, wind, wind, & more wind 🥴

Despite all that, we'd do it all again and love our modest home on our mountain 🙏

Happy Birthday Kawa! 🥳

Our amazing wonder dog turns 11 years old today 🎉🎉 She's become quite playful and cheeky these past 12 months. Happily cantering around the place when she's in the mood.

We feel she's still missing Maia (Little Dog) a bit, especially at meal times, or if we're out. But mostly she seems content, March flies aside.

Here she is parading by Billy and C**t during her post-dinner walk tonight 💖💙💙

Despite now being the smallest dog on the farm she'll always hold the title of 'Big Dog' which we gave her when she moved here 7 years ago - back when she was the biggest dog on the farm 🤭

Happy birthday gorgeous, we absolutely love you to bits 💞

Running water! The best thing ever!

Something I didn't mention, our water lines run along roads, which are (will be) fenced. So roads determine pretty much everything - water, fences, tree plantings, stock movements etc etc. All part of the Regrarians framework. It works beautifully.
