Nerriga Brigade held its AGM yesterday, with another fantastic year ahead for the brigade and only a few changes to the executive team.

Congratulations to Glen who continues on as Captain of the Nerriga Brigade, Wayne remaining as Senior Deputy Captain, and Fae continuing as Deputy Captain. Berni will also step into the Deputy Captain position once she completes her Crew Leader course over the coming weeks an exciting achievement for both Berni and the brigade.

The rest of the brigade executive team also remains the same, with Tricia continuing as President, Berni as Secretary, and Marrlena as Treasurer.

A huge thank you to all of our members for their ongoing dedication, hard work, and commitment to supporting both the brigade and the Nerriga community. We look forward to another great year ahead.

There’s something special about seeing a fresh new brigade sign proudly displayed on our shed. 🚒

Our new sign is now up at the Nerriga Rural Fire Brigade, giving the station a fresh look while continuing to represent the dedication and commitment of our members and community.

But while the new sign looks fantastic, we couldn’t bring ourselves to take the old one down. The old sign holds many memories for past and present members and has been part of the Nerriga community for many years. It represents the history, hard work, friendships, and countless hours volunteers have given to protect our community.

So for now, both signs will stand proudly together honouring where we’ve come from while looking ahead to the future. ❤️

Thank you to everyone involved in helping keep our brigade and its history alive.

Good luck to Berni, who is heading down to our neighbouring district, Shoalhaven, this weekend to complete the NSW RFS Crew Leader (CL) course.

Berni brings valuable firefighting experience from both WA and the ACT, and has previously completed her CL qualification in WA. She has now decided to undertake the NSW CL course as well to continue building her skills and knowledge within NSW operations.

Having another qualified Crew Leader will be a huge benefit for Nerriga, helping strengthen our brigade’s operational capability and leadership for the future.

We wish Berni all the best for the weekend and thank her for her continued commitment and dedication to the brigade and community.

Today we wake to the heartbreaking news that two rescuers from Marine Rescue NSW lost their lives during a rescue operation yesterday.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their families, friends, and all members of Marine Rescue NSW. This is a tragic reminder of the risks our emergency service personnel face every day to keep others safe.

From all of us at Nerriga Rural Fire Brigade, we stand with our fellow responders during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace. 💙

We thank you for your cooperation and support in helping keep our community and responders safe.

Today is International Firefighters’ Day a day that carries real meaning for brigades like ours.

It’s about recognising what it truly takes to be a firefighter. The callouts at all hours. The long days and even longer nights. The heat, the smoke, the unpredictability, and the pressure to make the right call when it matters most. It’s not just fighting fires,it’s training, maintaining equipment, supporting each other, and always being ready to respond.

At Nerriga Rural Fire Brigade, we’re proud to stand alongside a dedicated group of volunteers who give their time and effort to protect our community. From bush fires to structure fires, motor vehicle accidents to storm damage every job is different, but the commitment is always the same.

International Firefighters’ Day is also a time to acknowledge that firefighting is never a one-person job. It’s teamwork on the ground and coordination behind the scenes from the crews on the trucks to the calm voices on the radios, working together to keep operations running safely and effectively.

Most importantly, today is a time to remember those firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten, and their legacy lives on in every job we attend.

From our brigade to firefighters across Australia and around the world we stand with you today.

Stay safe. Look out for each other. Always.

🔥THANK YOU TO OUR GROUP 2 DEPUTY GROUP OFFICER, DANNY 🔥

Nerriga Brigade would like to say a huge thank you to our Deputy Group Officer, Danny, as he steps down from the role.

Over the years, Danny has been a massive part of our brigade from running training sessions, answering endless questions at meetings, standing beside us at fires, helping with the Captain changeover, showing new members what the RFS is all about, and always making sure we had the equipment we needed.

More importantly, he was always the one making sure our members got home safely after call outs, checking in on us afterwards, and being there whenever support was needed. An all-round top bloke and someone our brigade could always count on.

Now it’s time to relax (a little), hand back the devices that kept you going all those years, and enjoy some more family time. No more getting in trouble at birthdays when the pager goes off, no more having the apps open while overseas checking how our area is going, and maybe even a chance to properly switch off.

Danny, Nerriga wouldn’t be the brigade it is today without your help over the last few yrs, the guidance, and the support your gave us. We thank you for everything you have done for us and look forward to seeing you back on the fireground as one of us again.

And we all know if we ever needed help, you’d still be the first one to put your hand up.

Thank you for everything, Danny King 👏🚒

Update: Nerriga crews have extinguished several spots of fire and are now returning to station.

The fire remains in the care of Shoalhaven RFS crews, who will continue to monitor and manage the situation.

Thank you to the community for your patience and support.

🚨 Nerriga Fire Brigade has been called to a bushfire near Sassafras. 🚨

If you see blue and red lights approaching, please stay calm, pull over safely, and let our crews pass.

Every second counts when responding to incidents, and giving emergency vehicles a clear path helps us get there faster and safer.

Please drive carefully in the area and stay alert for emergency services and smoke.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

ANZAC Day – Nerriga Fire Brigade

This ANZAC Day, Nerriga Fire Brigade would like to acknowledge and thank all of the NSW RFS members who are veterans, current and former ADF members, reservists, and families with strong ANZAC connections.

Many within our brigade carry the values of service, sacrifice, mateship, and commitment values that are deeply shared between the Australian Defence Force and the NSW RFS.

Whether through military service, family history, or the continued dedication to serving our local community, these values remain strong within our brigade today.

We recognise those who have served, those who continue to serve, and the families who stand beside them.

On ANZAC Day, we pause to remember the courage and sacrifice of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served our country, and we thank those within our own brigade who continue that spirit of service through volunteering and protecting our community.

Lest We Forget.
