We're hiring a Fundraiser!
🙅 We don't take corporate money. Never have, never will. That means everything we do to run this campaign comes from people, not billionaires or property developers looking for a favour.

🫵 That's where you come in.
We're looking for a Fundraiser to help power the Newcastle Greens 2027 State Election campaign. You'll run donor events, build up our base of regular monthly givers, organise appeals and get grassroots fundraisers like trivia nights, gigs and stalls off the ground.

It's relationship building, it's community organising, and it's proof that a campaign can run on people power instead of corporate cash.

ℹ️ Part time, hybrid. Some evening and weekend work involved, because that's when community shows up.

Hurrah Cate Faehrmann 💚 thank you for your advocacy around this!

This is a big win for everyone who has worked so hard to get pill testing at NSW music festivals. Thank you for speaking out when it mattered!

But we know our work doesn't stop here. The vast majority of drug use happens outside of music festivals and, with increasingly dangerous substances being found in common recreational drugs, I'll be pushing for permanent drug checking services to be provided in the community too.

We're hiring a Materials and Digital Content Creator!
👀 Got an eye for design, know great storytelling and a love for a good meme? This one's for you!

We're looking for someone to help us tell the story of the Newcastle Greens ahead of the 2027 State Election. Think doorknocking flyers, How To Vote cards, social tiles, video content, animation and everything in between. And what's best is that you will have a small group of volunteers to support you!

📣 This isn't corporate comms. It's community storytelling. It's making sure the people doing it tough under this two party system, priced out of housing, waiting for a bus that never comes, lying in a hospital bed hoping the mould doesn't make them sicker. We're all doing it tough under this two party system and this role will ensure people tell their story, know they're not alone, and that another way is possible.

🏡 Part time, remote, work from home. You bring the skills, we'll bring the community and the cause.

A member of our community here in Newcastle, Muloobinba is spending a month alongside Palestinian farmers during the harvest, supporting their right to safely remain on and work their land.

They will cover most of the cost themselves: flights have been booked, their backpack is packed. ✈️

Closing August off with a wholesome Wallsend cleanup 🙂 and BBQ. Thanks to all the folk who joined us today at Federal Park and a shout out to candidates Alex Ford on the BBQ 🌭 and Lucy Miller behind the 📸 working hard around having solid conversations with members of the community.

On our cleanup, we noticed:
🍬 Plenty of small plastics and lolly wrappers around the playground - not shocking, but disappointing
🩹 Lots of used band-aids and strapping tape - again, nothing surprising
🐕 Dog poo bags abandoned by and in tree hollows all around the perimeter of Federal Park. Should the council install bins in more places around the park's perimeter?
🛍️ Plenty of soft plastic is still entangled deep in the bushes behind the swimming pool and Callaghan College

Keeping the land tidy is an act of community care. We would love to have you join us at our next cleanup!

Direct from Cali, Columbia to Newcastle: We’re sharing a story of resistance and care. 🌿 This event is organised with a local feminist and q***r collective to highlight the impact of far-right policies on the most abandoned communities. It’s time to listen to the voices at the front lines of change.

Let's go Maitland Greens & Paul Johns 💚🌳

Maitland Greens are excited to announce that Paul Johns will be our candidate for Maitland in the 2027 NSW State Election.
As many of you know Paul has been legally blind since birth, but Paul’s grit and friendly personality have seen him shine in overcoming the barriers of his disability.
Paul works in the disability sector and believes that whatever challenges we face in life, things can always be made better if we all work together to get the best outcomes for us all.

Paul will be at Maitland Community Markets on Sunday September 6th - that’s Father’s Day - and would love to chat with you about what challenges and frustrations you face and discuss potential solutions.

Paul is also looking for volunteers who can help spread the message. If you can help out with letter boxing, digital messaging, hosting a sign or data entry that would be awesome.
