A summary of my feelings about the US Presidential Election results…..

Hello all,

It’s been over two weeks since election day, and what a journey it’s been!
The result for the Stanmore ward was incredibly close (less than 100 votes difference in first preferences between Greens and Labor!!!!) However, with the distribution of Liberal preferences and their subsequent flow to Labor, it has become clear that I have not been elected to the Inner West Council.
I want to take the moment to give a huge thanks to the Greens volunteers who handed out voting cards, knocked on doors and stood at train stations! It’s not an easy task chatting to the public about council issues.
Thank you to my family and friends who gave me constant emotional support throughout the triumphs and tribulations of campaigning. And trust me, there were many difficult moments! I truly owe you the world 💚
A huge thank you to .atkins.18 , .newtown and for your ongoing support, wisdom and expertise throughout the campaign. I don’t think I’d have made it out in one piece without you!!!!
Though my time as a candidate may be over, I will continue to advocate for our community and fight for what’s right, so that the Inner West can be a truly progressive place.

Hello, my name is Flynn and I am one of your Greens candidates for Stanmore (Damun) ward. I grew up on Gumbaynggirr country in Nambucca Heads on the Mid North Coast. In 2017, I was fortunate enough to move to the Inner West to complete my senior schooling at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts.

Since then, I have continued to call the inner west home, having lived throughout the area as a renter for the last 6 years. I love our community for its vibrancy, diversity and progressive nature.

In my time living in the inner west, I have had significant involvement within the community, particularly the LGBTQIA+ community of which I am proud to share I am a member.

For the past several years, I’ve captained an open recreational sports team that has a focus on bringing q***r people into sport and exercise in a judgement free zone. I’ve coordinated several Mardi Gras Floats for the Sydney Bisexual+ Community, sat on panels discussing my lived experience as a bisexual+ person, as well as hosted q***r nightclubs events that aim to create a safe party space for all sexualities and gender identities.

I’m excited to be one of your Greens candidates for the Stanmore (Damun) ward. I hope that we can create the progressive council that the Inner West deserves!
