Ah yes, the sweet smell of success. It only took us 30 years, countless brown paper bags, and substantive control over both halves of the political duopoly.

Get your bids in! This is prime harbourfront land without mine workings under it, investors!

The 4125 square-metre site has been renamed Rail Bridge Row in recognition of the AA Company Bridge that once crossed the site to take coal to the harbour.

Bloody anti-progress heathen troglodytes. Who does this 'Farrelly' think she is?

It's amazing what people do when they think no one is watching. In Newcastle, under our averted gaze, the town's three vital systems: transport, built form and art have been chewed up. So this Saturday's Ward 3 byelection we should watch, like hawks watching the butterfly-shift that could yet save t…

Whats wrong with the NSW government cutting the rail line so that its own property developing body (UrbanGrowth) can develop said parcel of land? They can tart up some blocks, get some DA's approved and then sell to the highest bidder. Boom!
Conflict of interest my eye! Its called smart business.

The people of Newcastle need to drop the fu***ng scrooge mentality and give us developers a nice fat christmas present. Bravo NSW Liberals, Bravo.

STATE development authority UrbanGrowth is urging the government to permit development on at least part of the Newcastle rail corridor that will be left vacant after the heavy rail is truncated, sources say.

FOUR weeks ago, I pulled over on King Street in Newcastle. Right outside a bikie clubhouse where I watched black-hooded guys with ridiculous facial tatts wander in and out of a glass door obscured with black plastic.

***DARC-BICS supports Fix Our City Meeting***
June 2010

Pro-developer group 'Developers Against the Rail Corridor- Building In the Corridor Soon' (DARC-BICS) held a rally enthusiastically supporting the 'Fix Our City' public meeting in Newcastle on June 3.
Four members of the group stood on the front steps of town hall and threw insults at the 'anti-progress heathen troglodytes' from Save Our Rail who had gathered across the street.
Chanting "the speculators, united, will never be defeated", the group declared that they were on 'developer strike' and would not improve the many vacant and run down buildings they own in the Hunter until their demand that the rail line be removed is met.
Spokesman for the group Paul McCoy said that ‘We have waited far too long for the NSW government to remove this train line so that we can build on it".
At one point Paul Murphy, Hilton Grugeon and Jeff McCloy from Fix Our City approached the four and commented that it was funny that "the unions were across the street protesting against their own government".
Extending upon the "three stooges" clever comedic ruse, the DARC-BICS GROUP said "yes, yes, Frank Sartor- He's a union man through and through! Jodi McKay, she is a unionist from way back" before breaking our stridently in their chant of the day "the speculators, united, will never be defeated".
DARC-BICS member Prunella Sidebottom said "we don't care about peak oil- we can afford $5 per litre petrol".
An article in the Newcastle Herald on June 4 erroneously linked the group to the community organisation Save Our Rail.
The group attended the FOC meeting and applauded loudly after each speaker finished their piece. Paul McCoy said that times were changing and member for Newcastle Jodi McKay needed to "wake up and smell the DARC-BICS".
