Today Is World Sexual Health Day

Sexual health is an important part of looking after your overall health and wellbeing. This World Sexual Health Day, we’re encouraging our community to look after themselves, stay informed and make s*xual health checks part of their regular healthcare.

🩺 Have a yarn with our team about:
• STI screening – it’s quick, confidential and an important part of staying healthy
• Your 715 Health Check – a great opportunity to check in on your overall health and wellbeing and make sure you’re up to date with your health checks
• Safe s*x and contraception
• Any questions or concerns you might have about your s*xual health – there’s no shame in asking

Free condoms are also available at Awabakal Medical clinics. No shame, no judgement – just looking after you and your partner.

Many STIs can have no symptoms, so you may not know you have one without getting tested. Regular screening helps protect your health and the health of your partners.

Make your health a priority. Have a yarn with our team and book an appointment at Awabakal Medical Service.

Strong housing. Strong culture. Strong communities.

Today we celebrate Jamica Smith, Property Manager with Awabakal Enterprises, on achieving her Certificate of Registration as an Assistant Agent (Real Estate). This milestone represents more than professional development — it strengthens the skills, capability and leadership within our own organisation to better serve our community.

As an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation working in social and community housing, our vision is about more than providing a house. It is about creating safe, secure and culturally responsive homes, strengthening connection to family, community and Country, and supporting Aboriginal people to build stability and opportunity for the future.

Having Aboriginal people working across property management, tenancy support and housing services matters. Community control means our people can have a genuine voice in how services are designed and delivered, with cultural understanding, local knowledge and relationships at the centre.

Jamica’s achievement is part of that bigger vision — investing in our people so we can continue building the capability of Awabakal Enterprises and delivering better housing outcomes for our community.

Congratulations Jamica. We are proud to see you continue growing and contributing to our community.
🖤💛❤️

Have you had your 715 Health Check?

A 715 Health Check is a great opportunity to take some time for your health. It gives you a chance to sit down with our team, have a yarn about how you’re going, check your overall health and wellbeing, and identify any areas that might need a little extra care or follow-up.

🩺 Why is your 715 Health Check important?

It can help to:
1️⃣ Pick up health concerns early sometimes before you notice any symptoms
2️⃣ Check your blood pressure, heart health, diabetes risk and other important areas of your health
3️⃣ Talk about your overall physical, social and emotional wellbeing
4️⃣ Make sure screenings and immunisations are up to date
5️⃣ Put a plan in place to help you stay healthy

Feeling well is still a good reason to have your health check. Prevention and early detection can make a big difference you don’t need to wait until something feels wrong to get checked.

Not sure when you last had your 715?
No worries give our wonderful Awabakal team a call and we can check for you and book you in if you’re due.

Heading to the 2026 Koori Knockout? 🏉

The NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout is coming up Friday 2 October Monday 5 October 2026.

If you’re currently on bail, now is the time to check your bail conditions and make sure they won’t prevent you from attending the Knockout.

If your conditions include things like where you can live, travel or how often you need to report, you may be able to apply to have them varied.

⚠️ Don’t leave it until the last minute. Changes to bail conditions can take time and must be approved by Police or the Court.

For support, speak with your legal representative, Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT or Legal Aid NSW as soon as possible.
