đź’™Little Conversations, Big Impactđź’™

As children grow, learn and play together, they are continually developing important social skills such as kindness, empathy, respect and understanding personal boundaries.

We encourage all families to take a moment to chat with their children about:

✨ Respecting other people's personal space
✨ Keeping hands and feet to themselves
✨ Understanding that everyone has different comfort levels
✨ Using kind words and actions
✨ Speaking up if something doesn't feel right

The playground is a wonderful place for children to build friendships, learn teamwork and have fun. While staff supervise and support students throughout the day, these important lessons are reinforced when home and school work together.

We know that all children are learning and developing at their own pace, and we appreciate the support of our families in helping our students build positive relationships and make safe choices.

If you ever have concerns regarding your child, please speak with their classroom teacher or a member of the leadership team so we can work together to support all students.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, respectful and caring school community. đź’™

Our School Council has been working closely with the support of Lockie and Gary at th CDS Vic Depot Breakwater - operated by Scouts Victoria. We recently set up a fund called 'Greener Grounds for Newcomb' and now have a large bin at the front office for bottle and can collection.

All funds raised (10c per item) will go towards continuing to improve our school grounds. We encourage our school community members to consider collecting and donating their bottles/cans to support our goals!

Over the last two weeks we have had a focus on our environment and getting our students involved! Thanks to Fiona from Landcare, Lucy from the Bluebird Foundation and Brooke from the Bellarine Catchment Network for your support of our little school! 🌱 👏

A reminder that tomorrow is a dress up day at Newcomb PS!

Students are encouraged to dress up as an animal for the day, if they don’t have a costume/dress up they can still wear casual dress or a simple headband/face paint instead.

We are fundraising for save our turtles. Children need to bring a gold coin and the JSC members will collect the coins from each classroom during the morning sessions.

It’s also national walk to school safely day so if you get the chance to walk part or all of the way please do!

Today we celebrate our amazing Education Support Staff. Our school would not run without these incredible humans and we are so lucky to have them all on our team, working with our students.

If you get a chance today (or any day) to say thankyou to an ES please do. They teach, regulate, support, nurture and care for our students to ensure that everyone can learn and everyone can be involved.

Thankyou ES for the incredible work you do at Newcomb PS, enjoy a day that is about celebrating you!

We were fortunate to have Leading Senior Constable Leonie Hill visit to speak to our Year 5 and Year 6 students today. As a Community Engagement officer, Leonie shares important information with our students each year about cybersafety and cyberbullying.

Students learnt about staying safe online, being respectful in digital spaces, and what to do if they experience or witness unsafe behaviour online.

Constable Leonie also discussed the Australian social media age restrictions, including that many major social media platforms are now restricting accounts for children under 16 years of age.

Some of the key messages from today included:
• Thinking carefully before posting or commenting online
• Keeping personal information private
• Understanding the impact of cyberbullying
• Knowing how to seek help from trusted adults
• Using technology in safe and responsible ways

We are grateful to Leonie and the community engagement team for their time and expertise.
