Women supporting women in CFA ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’

Over the weekend, two of our members attended the CFA Womenโ€™s Challenge Camp at Tylden, joining volunteers from across the region for a weekend of learning, teamwork, personal challenge and connection.

They returned with new skills, new friendships and plenty of positive stories, describing it as a fantastic experience filled with great people and lots of fun.

Programs like this provide opportunities for women in CFA to build confidence, develop leadership skills and strengthen the networks that support our volunteers both on and off the fireground.

Weโ€™re proud to see our members embracing these opportunities and bringing their experiences back to our brigade. ๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ

With heavy hearts, we reflect on the tragic house fire in Werribee that claimed the life of a beautiful young boy and left his father seriously injured.

Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with the family, friends and loved ones affected by this unimaginable tragedy.

As firefighters, volunteers and first responders, we know that no amount of training can ever fully prepare you for incidents like this. Training, drills and experience help equip you for the job, but they can never remove the emotional weight that comes with answering a pager and being confronted with the worst moments of someoneโ€™s life.

We would like to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of every first responder who attended. From Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police to the crews from Hoppers Crossing CFA, FRV Station 58 (Point Cook), and the subsequent FRV and CFA crews who responded, every person on scene worked tirelessly together as one united emergency response team.

In moments of crisis, uniforms, agency names and job titles become secondary. What matters is the shared mission to save lives, protect others and support those experiencing unimaginable trauma. The way these agencies worked side by side is a testament to the professionalism, courage and compassion that exists across our emergency services.

While many will rightly recognise these men and women as heroes, we also know that they are human beings. Behind every uniform is a person who carries home the sights, sounds and emotions of incidents like this. In the days and weeks ahead, many will be processing grief, sadness and the inevitable questions of โ€œwhat ifโ€.

To every first responder who attended, please know that you did everything possible. Your training, experience and commitment to serving others guided your actions. You stood up when your community needed you most and worked together relentlessly in the face of an incredibly confronting tragedy.

Now it is our turn as a community to stand beside you.

Please look after yourselves, check in on one another, and never be afraid to reach out for support if you need it. Strength is not carrying the burden alone; strength is leaning on your mates when the load becomes heavy.

To all those involved, we thank you. We are proud of you. And we stand with you.

Today, our hearts are with a grieving family. They are also with the firefighters, paramedics, police officers and first responders who answered the call, stood shoulder to shoulder, and did everything humanly possible to help.

A special shout-out and thank you to Remi as he steps down from his roles. We are incredibly grateful for his years of dedication, support, and service to Bullengarook CFA. His contribution to our brigade and community has been greatly appreciated, and we thank him for everything he has done.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the families and loved ones of our volunteers, whose support and understanding make it possible for them to give so much of their time to our brigade and community.
