Learn more about bushfire behaviour and fuel management
As we head towards the warmer months, with a predicted El Niño weather pattern for spring and summer, understanding how bushfires behave and what influences their spread can help us all be better prepared.
Hepburn Shire Council is hosting a FREE Fire Behaviour and Fuel Management Afternoon Tea in Daylesford on 2 September. The session will explore how fire behaves in different conditions, the importance of fuel management, and practical ways communities can reduce bushfire risk.
Whether you're new to the area or have lived here for years, this is a valuable opportunity to build your understanding of bushfire preparedness and resilience.
Find out more and register here: https://www.hepburn.vic.gov.au/.../Fire-behaviour-and...
We encourage anyone interested in learning more about bushfire preparedness to attend.

Our Second lieutenant Andrew, along with his colleagues from CFA Oscar 1, will be climbing 28 floors at the Crown Metropol to support mental health.

Who is Oscar 1? We are the CFA technical rescue brigade who rescue people and animals from mine shafts across Victoria. As well as supporting other agencies in confined space and vertical rescue.

Does your alarm chirp occasionally? That means the battery is going flat. Change your smoke alarms to ones with 10-year lithium batteries, so you can be protected longer.
Only working smoke alarms save lives.

Subject: Community Sentiment Survey - Victoria Police 2026

Good morning,

In the time I have been acting as the Local Area Commander for the Moorabool, Hepburn, and Golden Plains LGAs, it has been a pleasure to meet with you all.

As you would no doubt heard me say, my focus is to work collaboratively to deliver quality safety outcomes for the communities we serve.

With that in mind, I need your assistance.

For the month of June, the Victoria Police 2026 Community Sentiment Survey is open.

I ask that you disseminate this email with attached link as far across each of your networks as possible. The survey provides an opportunity for all Victorians to have their say on their police force. The more responses we receive, the greater the impact.

Regards,

Brad HALL – Acting Inspector
Moorabool (Hepburn & Golden Plains) Local Area Commander

From 1 June 2026, we’re asking all Victorians about your local safety concerns, and where we can focus our efforts to keep you safer.

🚨 URGENT FIRE WARNING 🚨

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is urging NO fires tomorrow (25 April) due to hot temperatures and strong winds.

🔥 Do NOT light any fires

🔥 Extinguish existing burns completely OR monitor them constantly

🔥 Check any burns from the past week — they can easily flare up again

🔥 Conditions can change fast and fires can get out of control quickly

Please take this seriously and help keep our community safe.

Now that we are at the end of the fire danger period, we would like to thank all our firefighters and families for their support over this season.👏👏

Our firefighters assisted in 29 fire calls. These were both local and on strike teams. Our brigade supported other brigades to crew their trucks on the strike teams.🔥🚒
