A massive thank you to AG Warehouse Maffra for donating posts and rails for our awesome new fence and John at JK May Rural fencing for donating his time to put the posts in and helping put up the rails. A big thank you to our 3rd lieutenant Daniel Heyne for organising and delivering the post and rails and use of tractor and post driver! Also a big thanks to rest of our Newry team for their time taking down the old fence and getting the new fence up 💪 teamwork makes the dream work 👏

‼️Entrapment Drills
⚠️Purpose: Acts as a last-resort method of protection when firefighters are unexpectedly trapped or overwhelmed by a bushfire burnover.
⚠️Procedure: Three horn blasts signal an emergency, requiring crews to re-enter their trucks immediately. Inside, members deploy heat shields, deliver an emergency MAYDAY call with location details, and activate crew protection sprays to create a water curtain against radiant heat.

‼️Tree Hazard Familiarisation
⚠️Purpose: Trains members to spot, mark, and isolate dangerous falling trees and post-fire recovery hazards.
⚠️Format: Available as an online module or through group sessions using pictorial guides and awareness packages.

Are you a farmer looking to improve your bushfire preparedness? BlazeAid's All Fired Up! Grants will open on 1 September 2026, providing funding support for Private Fire Fighting Unit (PFFU) upgrades, including pumps, water tanks, hoses, radios, PPE and more.
We're also expanding the program to support regional community members with vehicle-mounted water fire extinguishers to help detect and safely respond to roadside fires.
