Last night at Avonlea πŸš’

Nhill Fire Brigade attended Avonlea Aged Care for a walk-through of the facility.

It was a great opportunity for our members to look at the recent renovations, familiarise ourselves with the new and existing fire services, and review our pre-plan for the site.

Training like this is extremely valuable for our members, helping us understand the layout, access points, fire protection systems and key information before we ever need to respond to an emergency.

A big thank you to the team at Avonlea for welcoming us tonight and helping us keep our knowledge of the facility up to date.

Great to see a good number of members attending and continuing to build our capability within the community. πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸš’

πŸ”₯ Nhill Fire Brigade Training Night πŸ”₯

Tonight, Nhill Fire Brigade had the pleasure of welcoming District 17 ACFO Malcolm Hayes along with members from Kaniva Fire Brigade for a fantastic night of practical, hands-on training. πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸš’

The evening covered a range of valuable skills, including:
🧯 Fire extinguisher use
πŸ’§ Using fire extinguishers in combination with a water fog for firefighter protection
πŸš— Sn**ch and grab techniques under water fog
πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ Hose management and techniques
πŸ’‘ Scene lighting

It was great to see members from both brigades training together, sharing knowledge, building confidence, and strengthening the teamwork that is so important on the fireground. 🀝

A huge thank you to the team from CFA Longerenong Training Campus for bringing out their gas trailer and assisting with the training. πŸ‘ Their off-site training equipment is an outstanding resource, and we highly recommend other brigades consider utilising it to enhance their own training programs. πŸ”₯

πŸ‘ Well done to everyone who attended and made the most of another great training night. Training together today helps us protect our communities tomorrow. β€οΈπŸš’

πŸ”₯ Training Update – Nhill Fire Brigade πŸ”₯

A huge congratulations to our four members who have successfully completed their External Breathing Apparatus (BA) qualification.

Breathing Apparatus allows firefighters to safely work in smoke-filled and hazardous environments where the air is unsafe to breathe. This course focuses on using BA during external fire operations, giving our members the skills and confidence to work safely around structure fires, industrial incidents and other emergencies where toxic smoke and gases may be present.

Training like this is an important investment in keeping our firefighters safe while increasing the brigade’s capability to respond to a wide range of incidents.

Well done to all four members on this fantastic achievement. Your dedication to training and improving your skills is a credit to both yourselves and the Nhill Fire Brigade.

πŸ”₯ A small device can make a life-saving difference. πŸ”₯

Nhill Fire Brigade is pleased to offer the CFA’s free smoke alarm installation program to members of our community who may need a little extra assistance.

If you don’t have smoke alarms fitted, your existing alarms are outdated, or they are no longer working properly, we can help. Our volunteers will supply and install new smoke alarms free of charge for eligible residents.

This program is particularly aimed at older community members, people living independently, and anyone who may find it difficult to purchase or install a smoke alarm themselves.

As the weather cools and heating appliances, electric blankets and other winter essentials are used more frequently, the risk of home fires increases. Working smoke alarms provide an early warning and can give you and your family the precious time needed to escape safely in an emergency.

We encourage everyone to check their smoke alarms regularly and make sure they are working correctly.

If you, a family member, neighbour or friend could benefit from this program, please send the Nhill Fire Brigade page a message and we’ll organise a visit.

Looking after our community is what we do β€” both on and off the fireground.
