🚨🔥 COMMUNITY NOTICE – Planned Hazard Reduction Burn🔥🚒

On **Saturday, 11 July**, crews from Nhulunbuy Fire and Rescue Service 🚒 will be working alongside the Dhimurru Rangers to conduct a planned hazard reduction burn of Mt Nhulun.

🕐 When: From approximately **1:00 pm** and continuing into the evening.

🚒 **Please be aware:** Emergency service vehicles will be moving regularly along the fire breaks and access tracks throughout the operation.

🙏 If possible, we'd really appreciate the community avoiding the Mt Nhulun area during the burn. Reducing traffic helps keep our crews safe and allows the operation to run smoothly. 🚒👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

💨🔥 Smoke Alert: Smoke may be visible around Nhulunbuy and surrounding areas for several days after the burn. This is normal and expected as part of the planned operation.

Nhulunbuy FRS alerts residents in the area of Grevillia Cl, Wilga Cl and Chesterfield Cct (near Primary School) of wildfire training exercises tonight 7 July from 1830-2100.

Residents and businesses in the vicinity of PAWs and Yanawal Units and around Nhulunbuy are advised Nhulunbuy FRS crews will be conducting hazard abatement burning tonight 9 June from 1830-2030hrs. Please be aware there will be smoke, emergency vehicles and emergency crews in the area. Please share and follow Nhulunbuy Fire and Rescue for relevant information. 🚨🚒🔥🌪️💥🔴

Tonight, members of the Nhulunbuy Fire and Rescue Service crew will be conducting training activities in the vicinity of Gove Warehouse.

Residents may notice emergency vehicles, flashing red and blue lights, and firefighters operating in the area throughout the evening.

This is a planned training exercise only and there is no cause for concern.

Training like this helps our crews maintain operational readiness, strengthen teamwork, and ensure we are prepared when the community needs us most.

Please take care if travelling nearby and give emergency vehicles plenty of space.

From emergency response to prevention, community engagement, training, and support behind the scenes, it’s a job that demands commitment, resilience, and teamwork.
