The ELDO satellite tracker antenna, one of three originally installed in 1967 to track the downrange path of rockets launched from the RAAF Woomera site, is now back home in East Arnhemland.
Thanks to Seaswift and Gumatj for shipping the units from Darwin to Gove; DeltaReef for constructing the ELDO antenna footings; HD Earthworks for transporting and offloading the ELDO units onsite and Band Refrigeration for some extra muscle power on the day.
This is a significant milestone for our local historical society group and we are so appreciative.
Over the coming months we will be working on assembling the units on AHS site so the ELDO antenna will be on show in it's full glory once again.

You are invited to attend our 2020 Annual General Meeting.

New members welcome!

What do we do?
We collect, recover, restore, maintain and display important historical artefacts, memorabilia and documents that record and provide evidence of the role East Arnhem land and Gove played in history, including Military (World War II) relics, maps and documents; Space and Communication (ELDO project) relics as well as long gone local business signs and files.

Where can you find us?
At the Gove Airport, pass the terminal, look for the old Air Traffic Control Tower.

The efforts of a small but vocal group of Northern Territory historical enthusiasts in Arnhem Land saves a space race relic from the scrap heap, but only after a 3,000km journey across Australia.

ELDO story on ABC today!
If you missed it go to https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-09-13/nt-rocket-tracker-hauled-3000kms-through-nt/12657984
A HUGE thank you to everyone who has given us financial and in-kind support to bring an important piece of our history and future back to Gove!
Department of Defence, Science and Technology Group in Edinburgh; Minister Moss and Michael Wells from NT Heritage; ABC transport; Nhulunbuy Corporation; Arnhem Land Pest Control; Nhulunbuy Rotary; Project Building Certifiers; Seaswift; Gumatj Corporation; DeltaReef; Marsh P/L and QBE Insurance and Matt Garrick – ABC News.
The Antenna components are now at Seaswift’s Gove shipyard awaiting transport and offload at the Arnhemland Historical site. Next will be building the foundations and reassembling the Antenna including the enormous satellite dish…however we are short on funds so any donations or in-kind support will help make this happen. [email protected]
We look forward to inviting everyone to a very special Open Day…when we unveil the Antenna in all it’s glory!
