Is this perhaps the most beautiful snake in Australia?

Native to black soil plains in Queensland, the Collett’s snake is one of Australia’s lesser-known venomous snakes.

Junior Rangers - January 17th

Our Junior Rangers session was a blast!

From hands-on activities to learning about mammals and making enrichment for our animals, it was such a fun way to wrap up the holidays.

We’ll be back for the next round in the June–July holidays, stay tuned!

Exciting News at Billabong Sanctuary!

Last week we’ve kicked off another exciting project; The construction of a brand new Koala Crescent roof!

This upgrade will provide our koalas with additional coverage and comfort, while also giving our visitors better protection during wet weather, making your experience even more enjoyable year-round.

You may notice some temporary changes to koala locations, but it’s business as usual across the park.

Construction is expected to take around 5 weeks, and we can’t wait to share the finished result with you!

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to improve and invest in Billabong Sanctuary.

At Billabong Sanctuary we’re proud to support the Australian Defence Force and the role they play in our community.

WO2 Soult Walter Crock Snappa and Corporal Hope Tenacious live among us as proud mascots for the 102nd Field Workshop and 11CSSB, two units within Townsville’s strong Defence community.

Townsville is a proud military city and we’re grateful to be part of that connection. Even our Ranger Nic has served as an Army reservist.

Today is a day of reflection as we honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served and those who continue to serve.

Lest we forget.
