🦗 Favourable seasonal conditions for locusts have resulted in above baseline locust activity in parts of the state this autumn 📈

As temperatures cool into winter, locust swarm activity is reducing, however monitoring for activity and reporting any sightings remains crucial to help reduce the risk of increased locust activity next spring 🔎

☎️ Did you know that landholders have a legal obligation to report any locust or suspected locust sightings within one business day to Local Land Services via 1300 795 299?

Our staff can also provide practical on-ground advice, help identify locusts, explain their behaviour and guide landholders on appropriate management options.

For further information, visit the NSW Government’s locust webpage 🔗 www.nsw.gov.au/locusts

🚚 Selling sheep or goats that weren’t born on your property? Here’s what to remember... 🐑🐐

When completing your NVD (National Vendor Declaration), make sure your tagging details are spot‑on 👇

If the animals have visual NLIS tags either:
• apply a pink post‑breeder tag/eID, or
• list the PICs from each ear tag on your NVD.

If the animals already have an eID device:
• simply list the number of head with eID devices on the NVD
• no need to apply another eID device
• no need to record their individual PICs. ✔️

And remember - only ONE eID device per animal.

Times are tough - we are here to help 🤝

Landholders across the region are facing many challenges at the moment including deteriorating seasonal conditions, fuel and fertiliser uncertainty, market fluctuations and timing pressures.

Importantly, landholders do not need to face these challenges alone, with many support services, programs and initiatives currently offered by Local Land Services and the NSW Government.

You can speak with an LLS staff member about any matter relating to your property, whether it be animal health, ag production, natural resources, land management, biosecurity or pest animal management.

Simply call us on 1300 795 299 ☎️

For those who are drought affected or experiencing deteriorating conditions, visit the NSW Government website for information on drought assistance, including what financial assistance is available 🔗 www.nsw.gov.au/drought

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme - “All In” - is a reminder that reconciliation is something we all take part in, every day. It’s not something we watch from the sidelines.

At the NSW Government’s Local Land Services, being "All In" means supporting landholders to recognise, respect and protect Aboriginal cultural heritage on the land they manage.

Our Cultural Heritage Landholders Handbook is one practical way we do this - helping landholders understand:
🔍 what to look for on their property
🧭 why cultural heritage matters
📞 what to do next if something is identified.

Because caring for Country is something we all share. Reconciliation isn’t just a conversation - it’s action. And on the land, that can start with awareness, respect and informed decisions.

The NSW Government’s Local Land Services Cultural Heritage Landholders Handbook provides practical guidance on what to look for and what to do next.

👉 Copies are available through Local Land Services offices – contact your local team on 1300 795 299 to find your nearest office and talk through what this means for your property.
