Our weekly morning Smoking ceremony is at Cowies Creek/ Seagull Paddock (End of Edols St) on Monday, 7th September.

Every Monday we start the working week at Wathaurong with a smoking ceremony to help ground us, connect to country, and reflect on what is important to us this week.

Everyone is welcome to join us for the smoking ceremony each week at 9:30am.

Congratulations to Lyndon Morgan, who received the Aboriginal Youth Justice Award at the recent 2026 Victorian Youth Justice Awards!

An incredible achievement and a reflection of the deadly work that Lyndon does every day for young mob.

Lyndon goes above and beyond in his role at Wathaurong - the dedication and time that he puts in to supporting Community being recognised in this way is very well deserved.

This Foster Care Month, we celebrate the incredible foster carers who help children and young people feel safe, supported, loved and connected.

It takes a community to raise a child, and Aboriginal children thrive when they are supported to stay connected to their culture, identity, family, community and Country.

You don't need to be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to make a difference. We welcome people from all backgrounds who are committed to providing a safe, nurturing home and supporting a child's connection to culture.

This year's theme, "Country is Our Teacher," celebrates the knowledge, stories, languages and cultures that are shared through connection to Country.

In celebration of Indigenous Literacy Day (tomorrow September 2nd), we’re giving away copies of 'My Body in Wadda Wurrung language', created by Traditional Wadda Wurrung Custodian, Kristi Watts. This beautiful book supports the sharing and celebration of First Nations language and culture.

Visit Booln Booln Cultural Centre and collect your copy from our retail space, open 9am to 4pm.

Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative is currently seeking submissions from local artists in our community to feature on our 2025/2026 annual report publication.
The deadly artwork for last year's annual report (pictured) was created by Donna Conley, proud Dharug Ngyiampaa woman.

Any community member who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is welcome to submit a piece of art for consideration, with the selected piece to be purchased by Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative for $500.

You can submit a piece you have already created, or you can create something new to tell the story of our last 12 months at Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative.

The selected piece will be used in our Annual report publication, printed in hardcopy and displayed online on our website, with the original piece (if a physical and not a digital artwork submission) to be displayed at a Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative location.

Our Open Day will be held on Monday 21st September at the Norlane ARC – located at 1-9 Cox Road, from 11am – 6pm.

There will be information, activations, and a chance to yarn with staff members from all areas of our organisation.

Join us for a series of Possum Skin Cloak Workshops led by Aunty Lisa Couzens.

These workshops provide an opportunity for community members to come together and contribute to the creation of possum skin cloaks and blankets for patients on their cancer journey or receiving palliative care, supporting connection, comfort and cultural care.

The workshops are open to everyone, regardless of experience, and all materials will be provided. Participants will learn about the creation of possum skin cloaks and blankets, explore the cultural significance of Possum Skin Cloaks, and take part in a demonstration on laying out and cutting the skins.
