🏅 Recognising Service and Commitment 🚒

At our Annual General Meeting, a number of North Rocks members were recognised for their service and dedication to both the community and the brigade.

Several members were presented with the NSW Premier's Flood Emergency Citation in recognition of their contribution to the emergency response during the 2022–2023 NSW Floods.

The floods impacted communities across the state and saw emergency service personnel and volunteers work tirelessly in challenging and often heartbreaking conditions. We are proud of the efforts of our members who answered the call, supporting flood-affected communities when they needed it most. This citation serves as a reminder of the important role volunteers play during times of crisis and the difference they make in the lives of others.

The evening also saw Michael C awarded his 20 Year Service Medal, recognising two decades of dedication to the North Rocks Brigade, the community, and the NSW Rural Fire Service. Reaching 20 years of service is a significant milestone and reflects countless hours of training, responses, community engagement, and support for fellow members.

Congratulations to all recipients. Your commitment, professionalism, and willingness to serve others are what make our brigade strong. 👏

On Monday night, members of the North Rocks Brigade came together for our Annual General Meeting, providing an opportunity to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the season ahead.

We would like to thank all members who held officer and support roles throughout the 2025/2026 season. The time, effort and dedication invested behind the scenes are what help keep our brigade running smoothly and operationally ready.

A special thank you goes to Peter C and Mick K, who have stepped back from their officer roles. We are incredibly grateful for their years of service, leadership and commitment to the station. Their contributions have helped shape the brigade and support countless members over many years.

As we turn our attention to the 2026/2027 season, we congratulate our newly elected officers and look forward to another successful year serving our community.

Members were also recognised with several awards on the night, but we'll save those celebrations for another post! 🏆

A big thank you to Andrew and Ian from the district office for attending and ensuring the meeting was conducted smoothly and in accordance with procedure.

Finally, a huge thank you to Bush's Fresh Meats for generously supplying the meat for our post-meeting BBQ. Nothing brings firefighters together quite like a good BBQ and the opportunity to catch up after the formalities are over! 🌭🔥

Tonight… Queensland can fend for themselves 😏💙

Most days we’re more than happy to head north and lend a hand when our mates in QLD need it. Fires, floods, storms — we’ve always got your back.

But tonight?
Tonight there’s a line in the sand.

NSW stands together.
Blue lights, blue pride, and one mission… bring the shield home where it belongs! 🔥💪

🚑 First Aid Training Night at North Rocks 🚒

Monday night saw North Rocks members putting their first aid skills to the test, working through scenarios involving broken legs, bites, burns, and of course finishing the night with the good old CPR refresher.

While we’re not planning on taking over the role of NSW Ambulance anytime soon, the reality is we often operate in remote areas and down fire trails where help can take time to arrive. Having the skills and confidence to provide immediate care can make all the difference until further assistance gets there.

Something we’re incredibly proud of at North Rocks is that the majority of our members are first aid trained. Looking after each other and our community is a huge part of what we do, both on and off the fireground.

A big thank you also goes to the amazing first aid trainers within our station who continue to share their knowledge and keep our skills sharp. 👏

With the AGM just around the corner… let’s hope we don’t need to put any of those skills into action on the night! 😄

🚒 National Volunteer Week at North Rocks ❤️
As part of National Volunteer Week, North Rocks members came together to celebrate, reflect, and enjoy a relaxed night as one crew.
The evening was a great chance for members to catch up, share stories from seasons past, and enjoy some well-earned pizza together after another busy year of volunteering with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
We were also proud to present service certificates to members who have dedicated over 20 years of service to the community. An incredible achievement that highlights the commitment and passion within our brigade.
North Rocks is fortunate to have more than 15 members with over 20 years of service - including Bruce, who has an amazing 53+ years of dedication and service. 👏
Volunteer brigades are built on the people who give up their time, support one another, and continue showing up year after year for their community. Nights like these remind us how lucky we are to have such a strong and dedicated crew.

Before anyone asks about the interesting mix of uniforms… yes, we were also taking our crew headshots on the night! 😄

Thank you to all volunteers everywhere during National Volunteer Week.

🚒 Training in Full Swing at North Rocks 👨‍🚒
Today saw the station in full swing, with members taking part in a busy day of training and skills maintenance.
Crew members completed their annual skill cards, demonstrating the firefighting knowledge and practical abilities required by our station to remain operational and ready to respond when the community needs us most. From hose work and pumps through to operational procedures and teamwork, it’s all about keeping skills sharp and maintaining a high standard across the brigade.
At the same time, our 2026 rookies were being put through their paces, building confidence and learning the practical skills that will form the foundation of their journey with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Training days like these are a huge part of what keeps our brigade prepared - not just for fires, but for all incidents we may face throughout the year.
A great effort by everyone involved today, along with the members who gave up their time to help train and mentor others. 👏

🚒 Congratulations to Our New Village Firefighters 👏
On Saturday, Eric, Sam, Nick and Cory successfully completed their Village Firefighter course - an important milestone in their journey with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The Village Firefighter course is the next big step into operational firefighting. It covers the fundamentals of fire behaviour, car fires, hose and pump operations, teamwork, door Entry and hands-on practical skills of fires in urban rather than bush, giving members the knowledge and confidence to safely respond to incidents and support their crew on the fireground.
It’s no small achievement and reflects the time, effort, and commitment each of them has put in throughout the course. And while it’s called Village Firefighter… no, it doesn’t come with costumes or a dance routine from Village People—but it does build a pretty strong team! 😄
A big congratulations to all four—we’re proud to have you as part of the North Rocks crew.
We’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped train, mentor, and support them along the way, as well as those who assisted with practical skills sessions back at the station. Your time and effort make all the difference in shaping the next generation of firefighters.
Well done all 👏

Today, we celebrate the incredible mums of the NSW RFS and emergency services everywhere ❤️🔥
Behind every pager, every late-night callout, every smoky set of yellows and every tired smile is a mum making sacrifices for both her family and her community.
They comfort strangers while their own children wait at home. They run toward danger while carrying the greatest responsibility of all - being a mother.
But today is also for the mums at home. The ones who support us when the pager goes off during dinner, family time or in the middle of the night. The mums who hold everything together while we’re out protecting the community. The quiet strength behind every volunteer.
To all the firefighting mums, support mums, partners and families - thank you for your strength, courage, compassion and endless love. You are the heart behind everything we do 💛
Happy Mother’s Day to the amazing women who protect, support and sacrifice for their families and communities every single day.
