North Star Public School

North Star Public School North Star Public School is a primary school for Kindergarten-Year 6 located in the small country community of North Star in North West NSW. Mr C.

On Wednesday 22 April 1942 the Minister for Education, the Hon. Clive Evatt visited North Star to open the new school. Four years earlier a subsidised school was started in the home of the late Mr and Mrs John Broshier with four children. In 1939 the school was transferred to North Star Hall with nine children. With an increase to thirty children, the Department of Education approved the erection

of a building in 1941. Sutton was the successful tenderer and a fine building was erected at a cost of ₤600. The school was orginally known as the North Star Provisional School from 1939-1955 and then as the North Star Public School from 1955 to the present.

📚Author Visit📚

We were thrilled to welcome Tia Carrigan back to North Star, this time as an author. Tia painted the beautiful mural on our toilet block, featuring many local birds.

Tia shared her two books with us and how and why she wrote them. The illustrations are beautiful of course! The books had some lovely reminders that we could all take away from the day. Tia guided us through her process of drawing birds and all the students were delighted with the end result of their version of ‘Mrs Mac’, the Kookaburra from her first book. Tia’s inspiration for ‘Mrs Mac’ came from her teacher from her own primary school days at Boomi PS, a small school just like ours!

Thank you to Tulloona Public School and Croppa Creek Public School for joining us for the morning. It’s always great to catch up with our small school mates!

🎼Goondiwindi Eisteddfod🎼

Last Tuesday, we swapped the classroom and sporting field for the stage. We entered three groups to perform a humorous verse. There were a few nerves but lots of excitement as our students shone on stage.

Our K-2 group performed And ‘S-s-so to Bed’ by Max Fatchen, with the help of Mrs Forsyth. Year 3, 4 and 5 students performed ‘Are We There Yet?’ by Lyn Hurry and our Year 3-6 class performed ‘My Brother’s a Genius’ by Ken Nesbitt.

Congratulations to all students who performed on stage. It was a wonderful entertaining morning at the Eisteddfod!

Congratulations to all our students for all their efforts competing at the Macintyre Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day of fierce competition and catching up with our Macintyre cluster friends.

A special congratulations to Sam for taking out the Senior Boy Champion!
