Honoring Heroes: Celebrating America’s 250 with Our First Responder Partners
Two nations, one shared mission. In the spirit of America’s 250th birthday, U.S. Consul General Jeremy Cornforth honored the incredible first responders who keep us safe across the Pacific. He welcomed representatives from Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), the Australian Federal Police, New South Wales Police Force, Queensland Police, Fire and Rescue New South Wales, and members of the Diplomatic Law Enforcement Attaché Community in Sydney. We recognize the vital partnership between U.S. and Australian first responders — supporting Americans here in Australia and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us overseas in service of our shared security interests. From the streets of Sydney to communities across the United States, this is what partnership looks like — first responders building trust, one mission, one community at a time. 🇺🇸🇦🇺

ICYMI: The U.S. Coast Guard works with Pacific partners to assist in patrolling and managing their own waters. The Ship Rider program is a key part of a much larger program of genuine engagement and the Harriet Lane recently pulled into Cairns to resupply after conducting some of this important work in Fiji. Commanding Officer Justin Matejka took us through it. 🇺🇸🇦🇺

North West Queensland: Where Rodeo Spirit and Critical Minerals Meet. From standing behind the bucking chute at the rodeo to witnessing mining operations over 1 km underground, the cowboys and cowgirls, miners, businesses, elected leaders, and everyday people of north west Queensland shared with U.S. Consul General Jeremy Cornforth a warm welcome and their pride in this beautiful part of Australia. The Mount Isa rodeo was an authentic showcase of country culture and another layer in the rich connections between the United States and Australia. Site visits and discussions along the region’s mining corridor in Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, and Townsville reinforced the strong and growing U.S.-Australia collaboration on critical minerals and secure supply chains, which are driving innovation and the technologies powering the modern economy. 🇺🇸🇦🇺 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo
