Northam community please be aware there is an Extreme Fire Weather Warning for our district today, and a Total Fire Ban and Harvest & Vehicle Movement Ban (HVMB) in place.
This means certain activities are not permitted including NO off-road activity during a HVMB including driving over vegetation, lawn/garden care services; using generators on grass and using chainsaws.
NO outdoor use of a welder or power operated abrasive cutting discs of any kind during a Total Fire Ban. This includes grinding, soldering, gas cutting and all other forms of โhot workโ.
We recommend all mobile phone users download or update the EmergencyWA app via their mobile phone app store for up to date emergency incident information. The latest update has wind direction information, forecast fire danger warnings and make and access your personalised bushfire plan in the app.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an Extreme Fire Weather Warning for our Avon fire weather district for today Sunday 14 December
๐ช๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Very hot and dry conditions today with fresh and gusty north to northeast winds expected during the morning. Showers and gusty thunderstorms are forecast to develop through the warning area from the late morning.

In addition, a Total Fire Ban has been declared for 14 December 2025 for the Shire of Northam
Shire of Northam advises a Harvest, Vehicle Movement and Hot Works Ban comes into effect at 10:15am today, 14th December 2025, and conditions will be reviewed throughout the day.
If you see someone acting in a manner that breaches a Total Fire Ban, contact the Shire of Northam. If the behaviour is related to arson, report this to police immediately, if it is an emergency, i.e. has caused a fire, call 000.

A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people in an area bounded by Julimar Road, Plunkett Road, Beach Road and Jenjoda Road in parts of JULIMAR, MOONDYNE, CHITTERING, LOWER CHITTERING in the SHIRE OF CHITTERING and the SHIRE OF TOODYAY. There is a threat to lives and homes.
