⚠️ NOTICE: NSW SES advises that flood mitigation measures have been implemented at Accor Stadium ahead of this afternoon and toKnight’s NRL Grand Finals 🏈

We’ve tackled the pre-deployment of sandbags to prepare for the potential flood of passionate supporters, with emotions likely to be running high following their team’s result tonight.

Our crews tested their flood response during last night’s storm and have confirmed it’s ‘better than lego’ but recommend fans stay alert for any stampedes of supporters ‘flying the coop’ should their team end up defeated.

Conditions are expected to ease by Monday, although widespread debates regarding referee decisions may extend well into next week 🤔

On Saturday evening (26th september), our volunteers responded to a storm damage job at an apartment building, where a large tree had fallen across the driveway.

Our crew worked to stabilise and cut up the fallen tree, restoring access to the property.

But the night wasn’t over just yet!

After completing the storm job, our volunteers came across a motor vehicle incident, where a vehicle was blocking the roadway. Our crew were first on scene and were able to assist with the help of the NSW SES Auburn Unit to move the vechile safely off the road.🚗

From storm damage to an unexpected roadside assist, it was certainly a busy night for our volunteers! 💙🧡

This morning (Friday 31 July), Parramatta SES volunteers responded to an incident on North Rocks Road, Carlingford, after receiving reports that a large branch had 'fallen' onto a truck.

The incident obstructed traffic while crews worked to safely manage the scene. Given the size of the tree and the work required to remove it safely, volunteers from Auburn SES Unit also attended to assist.

Over several hours, SES volunteers carefully removed excess branches, stabilised the tree and safely lowered the remaining sections to the ground, allowing the roadway to be cleared as safely and efficiently as possible. 🌳🪚

This was a great example of agencies working together, with volunteers from Parramatta and Auburn SES Units supported by Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police Force and City of Parramatta, whose crews assisted with traffic management, chipping debris and sweeping the roadway.

A big thank you to everyone involved for their teamwork and dedication in helping restore the area safely. 👏

Today, 10 June, is Thank a First Responder Day - a day to recognise and thank the people who dedicate themselves to protecting and supporting our communities 🧡

Across Australia, hundreds of thousands of first responders head to work or volunteer each day without knowing what challenges they may face. From storms and floods to rescues and emergencies, first responders are there to support communities through difficult, challenging and unpredictable situations.

Today, Parramatta SES would like to thank all first responders for the incredible work they do each and every day, along with our own dedicated volunteers who proudly serve the local community.

Yesterday, 35 Parramatta SES volunteers completed their Fit for Role requirements across a range of operator roles 💪

Members undertook a series of physical assessment activities including lift and shift, haul, ladder climb and lift, drag, carry, hold and hike challenges.

These activities help ensure our operators are physically prepared for the demands of the role and ready to support the community during storms, floods, rescues and other emergencies.

A huge effort by all members involved today - well done to everyone who took part 👏

Not sure when to call the NSW SES? Here’s a quick reminder for our community.

Parramatta SES volunteers respond to emergencies caused by storms, floods and tsunamis, with the most urgent requests for assistance always taking priority.

You should call NSW SES on 132 500 if you experience:
🌳 A fallen tree blocking access to your property or road
🌳 A tree threatening to fall on your home, driveway or accessway
🏠 A damaged or leaking roof
🌧️ Flooding at your property or your property is at risk of flooding

Our volunteers carry out temporary emergency repairs and make situations safe until permanent repairs can be organised through your insurer, real estate or a private contractor.

If a tree on council land has been damaged, and is not blocking access or creating a danger to others, please contact City of Parramatta via their online services or you can call 1300 617 058.

Tonight, 10 Parramatta SES volunteers rolled up their sleeves to donate blood as part of the Emergency Services Blood Drive 🩸💪

Among tonight’s donors were 2 first-time donors, 1 member returning to donate for the first time in 10 years, and another volunteer reaching an incredible milestone of 25 donations 👏

Their contributions will help save lives across Australia during the busy winter period.

This effort adds to the amazing 762 lives already saved by NSW SES members this month through the Emergency Services Blood Drive.

🧡 Tomorrow is Wear Orange Wednesday - WOW Day! 🧡

Here at Parramatta SES, our volunteers dedicate countless hours training, responding to incidents and helping the community when severe weather strikes, often giving up their evenings, weekends and time with family to help others. From storm responses and flood operations to community events and rescue training, our members are proud to serve the Parramatta community.

WOW Day is a chance for communities across NSW to recognise and thank the incredible NSW SES volunteers who support their communities during storms, floods and other emergencies. Tomorrow, we encourage everyone to wear something orange to show support for SES volunteers across the state and help recognise the important work they do 💪🧡

🇦🇺 ANZAC Day 2026 🇦🇺

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Today, members of NSW SES Parramatta Unit were honoured to attend the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the War Memorial and Cenotaph in Prince Alfred Square.

This solemn occasion provides an opportunity to reflect and pay our respects to the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

Lest we forget.
