Silliness aside - please do not muck around with flooded roads. We all know the message - say it with us: “IF IT’S FLOODED FORGET IT”.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, Rocky Point Rural Fire Brigade proudly acknowledges all firefighters serving within the Queensland Fire Department and across the broader firefighting community.

We recognise the dedication, courage, and sacrifice shown by those who answer the call to protect lives, property, and our communities. Whether responding to bushfires, structure fires, rescues, or supporting communities through times of need, firefighters continue to serve with unwavering commitment and professionalism.

Today is also a time to honour the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to reflect on the values of service and protection represented by Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters.

To our members, our colleagues across QFD, and firefighters everywhere, thank you for your service, dedication, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Tonight was a very special night for our brigade.

We had the honour of acknowledging and presenting the National Emergency Medal to Crew Leader Brett Cutter. The National Emergency Medal recognises sustained or significant service during nationally significant emergencies, and Brett’s commitment during the 2019 bushfires is a true reflection of that. Deploying across Queensland and interstate, Brett showed unwavering dedication, resilience, and a selfless commitment to protecting communities in their time of need.

What made the night even more special was seeing Brett share this proud moment with his son and the rest of the brigade. It was great to see everyone come together, celebrating not only his achievements but the spirit of service and teamwork that defines who we are.

On ANZAC Day, members of the Rocky Point Rural Fire Brigade gathered at the Woongoolba Bowls Club to take part in the dawn service, joining the wider community in quiet reflection. As the first light of day broke, the service honoured the sacrifice and service of Australian and New Zealand defence personnel, past and present. For the brigade, the occasion also carried a local significance, recognising the shared values of service, resilience, and commitment that underpin both military and emergency service roles. The stillness of the dawn, the sounding of the Last Post, and the collective silence created a respectful space to remember those who gave their lives, while reinforcing the ongoing duty to serve and protect the community.

🚒🐰 Easter Bunny Briefing 🐰🚒

We’ve advised the Easter Bunny that hiding eggs in dry grass is a terrible bushfire strategy 🌾🔥

This Easter:
👉 Slash it, clear it, maintain it
👉 No “surprise burns”
👉 And if it’s dry… don’t risk it

Only thing that should be spreading this weekend is chocolate 🍫

Let’s keep it that way so the trucks stay parked 🚒😉
