Don’t miss Atong Atem’s ā€˜Portraits’ on display in the North Gallery until 18 July.

Atong Atem is an Ethiopian born, South Sudanese artist living in Naarm/Melbourne. Atem’s work explores the inherent intimacy of portraiture while interrogating photography as a framework for looking at the world and positioning herself and others within in it.

Culture Dose for Kids – applications are now open!

For children experiencing mild anxiety, a calming and engaging eight-week art program for carers and children aged 9 – 12. This free program will provide a safe, structured space for young people and their parents or caregivers to engage with and respond creatively to artworks in a small group setting.

We are pleased to share that acclaimed photographer Atong Atem will be joining us for an artist talk on Tuesday 14 July from 5.30pm.

Atong will be in the Shoalhaven to run a school holiday photography workshop with kids at Wreck Bay in a partnership between Shoalhaven Regional Gallery and the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council. Any parents or teens from Wreck Bay interested in participating need to reach out to the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council.

The standard of works was incredible, we received over 90 entries from across the Shoalhaven. A big thank you to the judges from Beyond Empathy - Tiger Watson, Harmony Robles and Eli Harrison spent hours considering the works and selecting 21 finalists to be displayed alongside Archibald Prize 2025.

You can also view all the entries and complete the Archibald Prize children’s trail in the Ngura Education Space until 18 July.
