🚘Another major upgrade on the Princes Highway is rolling along, with the concept designs and Review of Environmental Factors for the upgrade of the highway from Jervis Bay Road to Hawken Road released.

The $500 million upgrade will deliver about six kilometres of dual carriageway on the Princes Highway, improving safety, traffic flow and access for local communities, freight operators and visitors travelling through the South Coast.

The concept design includes a median barrier to separate traffic and reduce the risk of serious crashes, dedicated access roads to allow residents to safely access properties, and a U-turn bay for emergency vehicles.

An upgraded intersection at Hawken Road will include an underpass looping beneath the highway to connect Hawken Road and Blackbutt Range Road, allowing all traffic movements to be performed safely.

The design also includes two fauna underpasses and fauna fencing to provide safer movement for local wildlife and reduce the risk of vehicle strikes.

The upgrade has been designed to support all road users, with shared paths for pedestrians and cyclists, new northbound and southbound truck parking areas, and a new bus stop to provide safer and more accessible public transport options.

The Review of Environmental Factors assesses the potential environmental, social and economic impacts of the upgrade and recommends measures to reduce and manage these impacts, which have been incorporated into the concept design.

✅✅✅The Australian Government's Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) is now open and I encourage the three local councils in Gilmore (Eurobodalla, Shoalhaven & Kiama) to apply for funding to help protect communities from natural disasters.
I have written to our local councils urging them to apply for funding to help with much needed disaster risk reduction initiatives in the area.
I am also happy to provide letters of support to council applications for any projects.
