**Updated @ 1.15pm:

Police remain at the scene of a serious two vehicle crash on the Arthur Highway, Taranna - near the devil park.

It is anticipated the road will be blocked for several hours.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

At this stage it is believed one person has sustained serious injuries.

Tasmania SES has issued a Storm Advice for the Furneaux Islands, North East and East Coast Forecast Districts.

The Bureau of Meteorology are forecasting heavy rainfall which may lead to Flash Flooding for parts of North East and East Coast Tasmania from early tomorrow (Wednesday, 27 May) morning.

Tasmania SES is ready to respond if needed, but we ask the public to be prepared and stay informed.

Be prepared:
• Supervise children closely.
• Beware of hazardous driving conditions.
• Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters.
• Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
• Manage pets and livestock.

Motorists are advised to take extra care on the Arthur Highway near Murdunna this morning due to a overnight diesel spill on the road.

The area is about 1km south of Murdunna and the road surface is slippery.

Slow your speed, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of police and clean-up crews.

We're asking Tasmanians to be prepared and to monitor conditions as damaging winds are forecast across parts of the state from this afternoon with conditions expected to ease on Saturday morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds.

Tasmania SES advises you to be prepared by:
🏘️ Secure outdoor items, including furniture and play equipment.
🧒 Supervise children closely.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
🐄 Manage pets and livestock.
🔦 Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
🌳 Beware of damaged trees and power lines, and take care when driving.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for Southern Region from 2am, Wednesday 4 February until 2am, Thursday 5 February.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for Southern Region from 2am, Wednesday 4 February until 2am, Thursday 5 February.

A suspension in the issuing of fire permits is in place in the Northern Region from 2am, Wednesday 4 February to 2am, Saturday 7 February.

During the total fire ban period:
❌ No fires are permitted in the open, including:
❌ incinerators
❌ burn-offs
❌ campfires and fire pots
❌ wood-fuelled barbecues

❗Restrictions apply to:
🔴 Welding, grinding, charring, soldering or gas cutting outdoor must comply with the Tasmania Fire Service Hot Work Guideline
🔴 Harvesting, slashing or other outdoor machinery must comply with the Tasmania Fire Service Machinery Operations Guideline.
🔴 Forestry Operations must comply with the Tasmania Fire Service Forest Operations Guideline
🔴 Commercial outdoor cooking or catering activities must comply with the Tasmania Fire Service Outdoor Oven Guideline
