A bigger space, better views and more room for the community 🙌

Construction of the deck extension at Mont Albert Reserve Pavilion is now complete 📣

Extended by 2 metres towards the oval, the upgraded deck provides:
👀 A larger, safer and more comfortable place to watch the action
🎉 More space for community gatherings and social events

Mayor Cr Kirsten Langford, Cr Peter Allan, Paul Hamer MP and representatives from Mont Albert Cricket Club and Surrey Park Lacrosse Club joined us to celebrate the milestone.

This project was made possible through funding from the Victorian Government's 2024-25 Community Sport and Recreation Projects Fund 🤝

Last Tuesday, Victorian Premier Ben Carroll announced changes to the Suburban Rail Loop, including the removal of the planned underground interchange at Box Hill as part of a $2 billion savings package.
But major infrastructure decisions need to consider the long-term needs of the communities they are designed to serve.

Box Hill is evolving into a vibrant, high-density hub and with that growth comes an important opportunity to create more places for people to connect, relax and enjoy the outdoors.
That’s why Council is continuing to advocate for additional public open space at Box Hill Brickworks.

This is the place for open space.

The privately owned, 7-hectare Brickworks site is one of the last significant undeveloped parcels of land in Whitehorse. It’s a rare opportunity to create a lasting community asset and ensure Box Hill’s future includes not just great transport and new homes, but great places for people.

With new planning controls allowing buildings of up to 10 storeys on the site, no more than five per cent of the seven-hectare site is currently set aside for public open space.
As Mayor Cr Kirsten Langford told 3AW Drive with Jacqui Felgate, Council believes this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure meaningful open space for Box Hill.

As the area grows, we need to think beyond buildings and transport infrastructure and make sure there are great places for people.

🚌Help improve our transport system 🚴🚗

As our community continues to grow, it's important that everyone can move around safely, easily and sustainably.🚦

Our draft Whitehorse Integrated Transport Strategy sets out a 20-year vision for a safer, more connected and sustainable Whitehorse. We want to hear your thoughts on the draft strategy, our proposed focus areas and the draft 4-year Action Plan.

Whether you walk, ride, drive, use public transport or a combination, your feedback will help shape the final strategy and guide transport priorities across Whitehorse over the coming years.
