Last Night RBDU Illawarra responded to a vertical rescue at the AAT Ship Terminal Port Kembla with the support of NSW SES Wollongong Unit, NSW SES Dapto Unit, Fire and Rescue NSW Wollongong and NSW Ambulance, from a cargo ship loaded with 10000 tonnes of reosteel, with the hold depth of about 17m. The 59 yr old male worker fell from a height falling to the bottom of the hold trapped between the cargo and hull sustaining head injuries. A VR system was completed to extricate the patient from the bottom of the hold to the top of the cargo, from the hold to the dock to be transported to hospital by ambulance. The patient is currently in a stable condition. The incident is under investigation.

Two of our Land Search Coordinators travelled to Waterfall for Day 4 of the Search, the team effort was rewarded with the missing person being located. Our thanks goes out to all Units, Squads and the public that assisted with their time, efforts and information.

Illawarra PRS and NSW SES Wollongong Unit NSW SES Dapto Unit attended Otford to assist a male injured after a small excavator had rolled down a steep embarkment about 30m down slope, a combined steep angle rescue was undertaken to bring the male back to the flat ground to be treated by NSW Ambulance and transport by road ambulance in a stable condition.
