🔥 HEAT WARNING | FIRE CONDITIONS INCREASING 🔥
It wouldn’t be an Australian summer without the heat — and over the coming days, hotter conditions will move in from the west. Some areas of NSW are expected to experience extreme temperatures, with the heat pushing towards Sydney.
With these conditions, Fire Danger Ratings are expected to range from HIGH to EXTREME in parts of the state which could increase at at any time.
🔥 Important reminder: embers can travel kilometres ahead of a fire. Even if you’re in a metro or built-up area, you may still be at risk and should not assume you’re safe.
With the Australia Day long weekend approaching, please take extra care: If you’re heading away or camping, know your escape route, have a plan, and monitor conditions closely.
🚗 Be ready to leave early if conditions change
👀 Stay alert to warnings and local advice
As temperatures rise, so does the bush fire risk. Now is the time to prepare:
✅ Avoid activities that could start a fire
✅ Never leave fires unattended — including BBQs and burn-offs
✅ Have a Bush Fire Survival Plan in place
✅ Keep grass and vegetation trimmed around your home
✅ Clear gutters and remove flammable items from around your home
✅ Stay informed via the NSW RFS website, Hazards Near Me app, and local warnings as updates occur regularly.
🚫 Report unattended or suspicious fires immediately by calling 000.
Please look after yourselves, your families, and your neighbours — especially the elderly, children, and pets — and check in on those who may need assistance during extreme heat.
Stay alert. Stay prepared. Stay safe.
