Safety Tips about Marketplace Exchange Meetups 📱 ⇄ 💵

Recently we have seen an increase of theft/deception offences committed during marketplace exchange meetups involving high value mobile phones/electronical items.

We would like to provide some safety tips about marketplace exchange:

- Meet at a safe place during the daytime, preferably at a dedicated "Safer Exchange Site", or at a police station near you, or a busy public place covered by CCTV cameras.

- If practicable, consider not to invite strangers to your home address.

- Count cash and examine goods carefully, to avoid receiving counterfeit money/fake goods.

The BMW then followed the Toyota, driving erratically westbound on Dandenong Road, before turning left onto North Road, then onto Clayton Road.

Police were told the male drive of the BMW got out of his vehicle twice, attempting to open the Toyota door and confront the male victim.

The 33-year-old Yarraville man was not physically injured during the incident.

It's alleged two males ran from a waiting car with a jerry can, smashed the window of the license venue and attempted to pour fuel inside.

We moved in and arrested two boys but the driver of the car took off from the scene. Despite a thorough search of the area, neither the driver or the vehicle were located.

A 16-year-old boy from the Casey area and a 16-year-old boy from the Monash area will be interviewed by investigators.

Detectives are working to determine any possible links to previous incidents and are continuing to look at all possible motivations behind the offending including who is involved and why.

Police continue to have an increased presence in both an overt and a covert capacity throughout these entertainment precincts, including increased patrols of these areas and visits to licensed premises.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
