Fire and Rescue NSW Station 411 Oberon Oberon Fire & Rescue is an emergency service specialising in firefighting and is the primary state combat agency for HAZMAT and building collapse.

We work with other government agencies to minimise the impact of bushfires, storms, floods, landslides, building collapses, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. We also run prevention and preparedness programs to prevent these emergencies and reduce their impact on the community.

Lunchtime yesterday, 411 was responded to a diesel spill stretching from O’Connell Road out some distance on Abercrombie Road.

The spill in town was rendered safe using absorbent material and the rest of the spill was handed to Oberon Council.

A reminder to motorists that moist evenings usually floats and oils or fuels to the road surface making conditions slippery even on good days. Please take care driving in and around Oberon roads.

Last night 411 was responded to a skip bin fire in town. Firefighters gained entry to the property and extinguished the fire.

Just a reminder that all fires within districts require a permit year round and is the owner’s responsibility to monitor while a light and properly extinguish once finished.

Today, communities across Australia are coming together to recognise the people who step forward when others need help most.

To every police officer, firefighter, paramedic, emergency services worker, volunteer, dispatcher and first responder family member – thank you.

Thank you for the long shifts, the missed milestones, the sacrifices made behind the scenes, and for showing up when our communities need you most.

Today, schools, workplaces, councils, community groups and individuals are sharing messages of gratitude, lighting landmarks in teal and blue, attending events, and finding their own way to say thank you.

Congratulations all, especially Captain Cupcakes!

Three Fire and Rescue NSW members have been recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours.

Captain Paul Cavalier, Robert Lightfoot and Station Officer Peta Miller have each received the Australian Fire Service Medal for distinguished service to FRNSW and the communities of NSW.

From community safety and firefighter development to Urban Search and Rescue, leadership and mentoring, their contributions reflect the very best of public service.

Second round of firefighters braved the frost this morning and completed their annual fitness test, some having more fun with it than others.

The Fire and Rescue NSW annual fitness test comprises of seven functional consecutive activities such as hose drags and weighted step ups to simulate actual jobs we may encounter on the job. It sets a baseline for individual fitness and encourages healthy competition in the station.
