HOW TO STAY INFORMED: WHAT'S YOUR PLAN?

๐Ÿ“ฒ Downloaded the Emergency WA App - this powerful tool offers the fastest and most reliable access to alerts and warnings for bush fires, direct from DFES. It is extremely helpful for you to stay in the know about hazards nearby and receive the information straight to your smart phone.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Telecommunications can become unreliable during a bushfire emergency. ABC local radio 630AM is the most reliable and up-to-date source of information during an outage. ABC Great Southern broadcasts emergency updates at regular intervals (usually every 15-30mins, sometimes rolling coverage), with information on emergency warnings, what to do and other key information.

Wondering how to tune in?

๐Ÿ“ถ If telecommunications are still working, you can stream ABC local radio online using your smartphone, tablet or computer at https://www.abc.net.au/listen/live/greatsouthern or you can select the ABC Local Radio channel on your TV.

๐Ÿคณ If you can still access phone reception, you should also monitor https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/ and follow Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA on Facebook for regular updates.

๐Ÿ“ป๐Ÿš™ If phone lines aren't working or if the power is out, you can listen to ABC radio by turning your radio dial in your vehicle or battery-powered radio to 630AM.

๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿ“‹ Finally, don't forget to use your own eyes, ears, nose and survival instincts. At the end of the day, we're all responsible for our own safety, so don't wait for someone to give you instructions. Consult your Bushfire Plan and take action. If you haven't prepared your Bushfire Plan, start today at https://mybushfireplan.wa.gov.au/

๐Ÿ”ฅHARVEST AND VEHICLE MOVEMENT BAN DECLARED๐Ÿ”ฅ

Due to EXTREME WEATHER, a HARVEST AND VEHICLE MOVEMENT BAN will be in place from 9 am to 6 pm TOMORROW, THURSDAY 22 JANUARY, across the Shire of Denmark.

During a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban:
โ›” YOU CANNOT conduct any off-road activity which involves the operation of any internal combustion engine-powered vehicle or machine such as a tractor, ute, motorbike, excavator, chainsaw, generator, lawnmower and so on (off-road includes paddocks, bushland, uncleared land and grass).
โ›” YOU CANNOT carry out business as usual if your work involves any of the above-mentioned conditions.

โœ… You can drive onto a paddock if there is an immediate and serious threat to the health and safety of a person or livestock. All reasonable precautions must be taken to prevent the creation of a bushfire danger.
โœ… You can use a vehicle on gazetted roads, lanes, driveways and yards if they provide access to or parking at any residential, farming or business premises and if the area is sufficiently clear of flammable material.

๐Ÿ‘‰For more information, visit www.denmark.wa.gov.au/bans

On a high-risk fire danger day, the advice from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA is:

โ€ผ๏ธ TAKE ACTION NOW TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND PROPERTY

Fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous in these conditions. Take immediate action if a fire starts. If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, plan to leave early.

๐Ÿค” WHAT TO DO ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿ“‹ Put your bushfire plan into action. If you do not have a plan, visit https://mybushfireplan.wa.gov.au/ to decide when you will leave and where you will go.

๐Ÿš™ Avoid travel through bushfire risk areas.

๐ŸŽ’ Take action if needed. Do not wait for a warning.

๐Ÿ”ฅ If you see smoke or flames call triple zero.

๐Ÿ‘€ Monitor conditions and stay up to date at https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/ or tune into ABC Great Southern
