1 June is the the first day of winter and Smoke Alarm Action Day.
Use it as your reminder to test your smoke alarms and make sure they’re working properly.

It only takes a minute, and it could save your life. A working smoke alarm can halve the risk of death in a house fire and is one of the simplest ways to protect your home and family.

Ocean Grove, meet our newest recruits - Claire and Danielle!👏

The pair received their wildfire gear last night and will spend the next few months training to be ready to jump on the truck for next summer’s fire season.

We’ve had a record number of volunteer applications this year, and we can’t thank our community enough for stepping up to help keep Ocean Grove safe.

Welcome to the team, Claire and Danielle!

This Sunday 1 June is Test Your Smoke Alarm Day.

Winter is one of the busiest times for house fires, with many starting at night while people are asleep. Take 30 seconds this Sunday to make sure your smoke alarms are working properly:

✅ Press the test button on every smoke alarm in your home
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Check alarms are less than 10 years old
✅ Make sure everyone in the house knows your fire escape plan

Please share this reminder with friends, neighbours and family across the Bellarine 🔥

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums and mother figures in our community.

To all the mums on the trucks and all the mums holding things together at home while volunteers respond to calls — today we celebrate you.

Thank you for everything you do, both seen and unseen. We hope today includes a chance to put your feet up… at least until the pager goes off 🚒❤️

For mother-daughter duo Brenda and Kim, volunteering for Wattle Glen Fire Brigade has provided a very special common ground and an even deeper bond.

They are just two of the many CFA members who volunteer alongside their family members, encouraging one another and sharing experiences together.

Today, we celebrate all the incredible mums and mother figures in our brigades and communities. Happy Mother's Day 💖

Welcome Marli!

Last night, Ocean Grove CFA welcomed Marli to the brigade, seen here getting his firefighter gear from Captain Cooper.

He’ll spend the next few months training to become a firefighter so he’s ready to be on the truck in time for the next summer fire season.

We’re lucky to have you on board - welcome to the team, Marli!👏

Jean, Daniel, Annette, Ebonee and Ange from Ocean Grove CFA joined crews today from across the region for a planned burn in Lara.

These burns are a vital part of reducing fuel loads and helping protect our communities ahead of the next fire season.

Awesome work by all involved 👏
