Council’s General Manager, Andrew Carfield, spoke with ABC News on the future of infrastructure in Western Sydney 🎥
The interview highlighted growing calls from the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue to fast-track investment across the region, including the development of a new 10-year Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan to guide future growth.
Camden is echoing this call. Through our advocacy campaign, ‘The Time Is Now’, we’ve consistently called for coordinated investment from State and Federal Governments to ensure our community remains liveable, sustainable and prepared for the future.
As one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, Camden’s population is projected to grow significantly in the coming decades. With this growth comes an urgent need for infrastructure that goes beyond roads- including transport, community facilities, and the social infrastructure needed to support families, local jobs and thriving neighbourhoods.
We are calling for a new federal funding pool and Expressions of Interest (EOI) process for local governments, providing greater certainty and enabling councils to plan for housing, services and infrastructure in a coordinated way.
This includes investment in critical projects such as improved public transport connections to the Western Sydney International Airport, rail extensions, and key road corridor upgrades, alongside the community and cultural infrastructure that keeps our region connected.
