THANK YOU! We had a wonderful day today, thanks to everyone who visited. But while it was a hoot, we don’t want to see you before Open Day 2026, so please remember:

- No water on kitchen fires
- Drive to the conditions
- Shop, Charge and Recycle lithium-ion batteries correctly
- Keep Looking when Cooking
- Keep it a Metre from the Heater

We often attend emergencies that are the result of a lot of little decisions combining to cause a catastrophe, please take a few moments to ensure this doesn’t happen to you.

A Safety Visit is so much more than just a smoke alarm check or installation. It's a whole conversation about emergency planning, fire prevention, initial response and home evacuation plans. This information is then shared with friends and neighbours, who also take steps to prevent and respond to fires. So, the achievement of 100,000 individual Safety Visits translates to so much more. Firefighters recently responded to a house fire in Bass Hill caused by two BAR HEATERS left on overnight. We might be far from Bass Hill but it’s just as chilly here🥶

The heaters, placed under a pergola, were too close to the outdoor furniture, igniting the chairs.

Thanks to a working smoke alarm, three residents safely evacuated.

Follow these heater safety tips:

📴Turn off heaters when not home and before bed.
📏Keep everything one metre away from heaters.
👀Supervise young children around open fires or working heaters.
