Yesterday our Year 6 boys touch football team competed at the inaugural Alexandra Hills SHS Touch Shield competition. 12 teams from across the district competed in the open boy’s division in what was a high-quality day of touch football. Our boys played 5 games through the pool phases, where they went on to win all five of these matches, progressing as top of our pool for the finals. The semi-final was a hard-fought game where OSS won 5-2. In front of a packed house, the boys saved their best game for the grand final, winning in emphatic style 5 -1.
We are very proud of how our players competed and represented Ormiston SS and its community. A massive congratulations on the victory!!

Today, we enacted a Lockdown in Shelter for a short period of time due to an incident occurring in the vicinity of the school. This was a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff.
At no time were students or staff at risk. The situation was closely monitored, and once the school was satisfied that there was no risk to our students, the Lockdown in Shelter was lifted and normal school operations resumed.

On Friday (5th June) we will be holding a Free Dress Day (Theme: Pyjamas) with all funds raised to support our Student Council. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to class if participating. Please ensure all clothing worn is sun safe with closed in shoes (no slippers please). Thank you for your support. 🩵🤍🩷💜

On Sunday, two students, Max and Connor represented Ormiston State School at the Brisbane School Handball Competition.
Out of 24 schools, Max and Connor earned enough points to place OSS at 13th, which was a great effort considering there were only two of them.
A big congratulations also to Max as he was awarded second place on his handball court.

What a fantastic day at Fanfare 2026! 🎶
Yesterday, 94 of our talented student musicians represented our school across three ensembles at MacGregor State School, showcasing their hard work, dedication, and passion for music.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the following achievements:
🥇 Junior Band – Gold Award (Division 4)
🥇 Senior Band – Gold Award (Division 2)
🥈 Stage Band – Silver Award (Division 1)
These results are a testament to the countless hours of rehearsal, commitment from our students, support from families, and the dedication of our staff.
Beyond the awards, it was wonderful to see our students perform with confidence, professionalism, and enthusiasm while sharing their love of music. Thank you to those Parents, Family and Friends that were able to make it to watch and listen, it is always great to have an audience to appreciate the performances.
Congratulations to every student who performed today – you should all be extremely proud of what you have achieved. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the year holds! 🎺🎷🎵

Chappy Corinne and the Chaplaincy Committee will provide a FREE pancake breakfast for students, and free coffee provided by baristas for adults. The breakfast will be in the covered eating area next to the Hall (OLA) from 8-8:50am tomorrow (Wednesday 3 June). There is always a large attendance so come as early as you can as the line-up is long. See you at the breakfast!! 😀
