Christmas Greetings from Ouyen - 1911.
“The many fine modern towns which have sprung up during recent years throughout the Mallee have certainly proved a standing monument to the magnificent fertility of the soil and the ideal climatic conditions, and no more so is this reflected than in the recently opened up Ouyen-Kow Plains country, and the rapidly growing township of Ouyen, which is the junction town, being 64 miles from Mildura and 289 miles from Melbourne; also, it is the starting and terminal station for the Kow Plains railway, which will ultimately, no doubt, extend through to Pinaroo, and thus become connected with Adelaide and other South Australian towns.” (Phew, first paragraph).
