It was hard to decide where to start first. We began by emptying each room at a time , and each room revealed their unique secrets. The floor boards and tin pressed ceilings were absolutely amazing, as the character of the building began to reveal itself. My imagination simply went wild as I began to visualise how the rooms would eventually look. Lady Victoria slowly began to reveal her hidden beauty each day as we became acquainted with each other.
I could sense that she was cautious about me, as I was about her. The building felt could, dark and void of spirit when I first stepped through the front door. The bistro looked dark with black table cloths and outdated furniture and decor. There was no atmosphere or ambience, she looked old and tired. Now, with the dark elements removed she was beginning to feel warm and ambient. Slowly embracing the subtle changes being made to her.
She no longer looked like a haunted house, she was now showered with love and in return she exuded warmth, and attracted curiosity from the visitors who walked through her hallways. Life began to slowly return, her soul now awaken. People admired her history, beauty and the memories she kept inside. I was excited to slowly tell her story, and mend her old wounds. Careful not to change her, but enhance who she already was, as we travelled back to when she was constructed in 1919. I felt she was a time capsule that I was slowly beginning to unravel. Our fate has now been sealed, I can never leave her abandoned.
