Come and experience the thrill of droving as we walk a mob of cattle down through the mountains starting at the foothills of Mount Buffalo across to Rose River and down the King Valley to our home block at Oxley. Whether we’re bringing them down from the peaks in November or taking them back up in December, you’ll be part of a team that quickly becomes family.
Your days will be spent riding—either your own horse or one of Forges’ trusted mounts—across rolling hills and stunning countryside. Along the way, we’ll treat you to delicious homemade meals and give you the chance to meet new people who will become lifelong friends. You'll be learning new skills for both you and your horse, while playing an essential role in moving the cattle through the valley.
Evenings are spent around the campfire, under the canopy of beautiful trees, sipping your favourite beverage, reminiscing about the day, and having a good laugh. You’ll camp in comfort, with your vehicle or setup transported to camp each night. A quick fish or swim is always on the cards before tea!
For your comfort, we’ve got a portable toilet that follows us each day, perfect for breaks, and at camp, a hot shower trailer with a dry change room to freshen up at the end of each day.
There’s nothing more rewarding than droving those few hundred head of cattle through the last gate on the final day. Trust us, the satisfaction is second to none. We’d love for you to be part of it!
