Little Stevie's mother was hit and killed by a car last week in Macclesfield. πŸ˜”
She was quite traumatised after the accident and sustained mild bruising. She's settling in well and drinking all her bottles. She is the sweetest little girl. πŸ₯ΉπŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

This is the absolute worst part of wildlife rescue.

Mum was hit and killed tonight on Gembrook Rd. The person who hit her didn't bother to stop and check. Thank you Leigh for stopping, checking and calling for help. Unfortunately this little girl was non viable and had to be euthanased. πŸ˜πŸ’” RIP little angels.

She didn't have to suffer for so long!

She would have been hit last night. She was left with internal injuries and in a tremendous amount of pain on the side of the road.

I will never understand how someone can just drive away after hitting an animal.
Again and again, wildlife are struck left alive, broken and dying. There is such an indifference to their suffering. If it were someone's dog, can you imagine the outpouring of shock and sadness? Wildlife, like our pets, feel pain, fear, and love. They don't deserve to be left on the side of the road without even a phone call.
Please, if you accidentally hit an animal, stop to check if it's dead, pull it off the road, check the pouch, and please call for assistance if needed.
Thank you, Ajay, for calling and waiting on site until I arrived.
Rest easy, beautiful girl. πŸ’ž

Teeny tiny sugar glider.

A member of the public found mum caught on barbed wire fence. They cut her free, but she quickly escaped the towel she was contained in, leaving behind one of her babies. πŸ₯Ί

It's likely that mums injuries were life threatening. She would have been carrying another two babies, and now they may all perish. 😒

Terry, the young tawny frogmouth, came into care exhausted. Terry is a fledgling. It's a short stage when a young bird is learning to fly.
He was found on the ground by PJ, concerned he called for advice. PJ went to great lengths to construct a makeshift nest, but every time he placed Terry in the nest, he would jump out and fall to the ground.
It was getting dark, and thunderstorms were approaching, so the hard decision was made to take him into care and away from his parents. 😒 Fledglings still rely on Mum and Dad for warmth and food.

After 2 nights of r&r, Terry showed me that he was ready to go back to Mum and Dad and that he had mastered flight. πŸ™Œ
PJ was so happy to have him back home. He told me that Mum and Dad had been calling πŸ₯Ί
We opened the crate, and he took off beautifully into his home bushland! He flew a good distance and landed on top of a tree fern. Moments after we could hear mum and Dad calling. Nothing beats a successful release and reunion. πŸ₯Ή πŸ’–πŸ’–

It's not fair! 😭😭😭

Wombats are one of Australia's most iconic animals, but so many of them are suffering and dying painful deaths from mange. It is unbelievably cruel and painful for them, and if not treated, the wombat will most certainly die a cruel death.

These two wombats were so bad with mange that they had become septic from open wound infections. They were both humanly euthanased. πŸ˜”

If you see a wombat with mange, please report them to Mange Management https://mangemanagement.org.au/

I have a real soft spot for these guys. This blue tongued skink came into care after being grabbed by a dog sustaining several puncture wounds. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries a few days later. πŸ˜”

Lizards and snakes are on the move with the warmer days. Please be mindful, keep an eye on your pets, and watch out for reptiles on the roads.

Happy World Wombat day! 🐾

Two little brushtails with similar stories. They were brought into two different vet clinics with their critically sick and injured mothers. Both mothers had to be euthanased, leaving them scared and alone. They will be buddied up together for company, to keep each other warm and to grow and learn from one another.
