Principal’s Day….a message from Anita

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful staff, Leadership Team, students and Governing Council for making Principal’s Day so incredibly special today.
The video featuring our students sharing their thoughts on my “special powers,” what a Principal does each day, and some of my favourite things brought a huge smile to my face. The beautiful canvas covered in their fingerprints, drawings, and books, together with the generous gift from our Governing Council, are all truly appreciated.
Being the Principal of a school is a privilege, but being part of such a unique and kind community, filled with curious and caring students and a team of dedicated staff, makes every day so rewarding.
Thank you all for your support, your kindness, and for making Para Vista such a wonderful place to learn and grow together.

This week, we kicked off Primary Education Week at Para Vista Primary School with a wonderful community pancake breakfast. As families enjoyed pancakes, they were invited to share what they value most about our school, what makes Para Vista special, and any other thoughts or suggestions.
Throughout the week, our feedback wall continued to grow with contributions, providing us with valuable insights. Kindness, support, and our rich diversity were frequently highlighted as strengths, along with appreciation for our dedicated staff, breakfast club, and our strong sense of community.
Thank you to everyone who added to our feedback wall and helped us celebrate just how special primary education is at Para Vista. Your voices and involvement truly make our school community shine.

Hey Kids in Salisbury we want to hear from you!!!!!

Your Voice is Your superpower!

We want to make sure the world is a place where you feel heard, happy, and supported. To do that, we need to hear from you!

If you are between the ages 3-14yrs we want to know: What do you think adults need to hear?

Whether it’s how we look after our mental health, how we treat one another, or big ideas for a better future—whatever matters to you, matters to us. We’re here to listen.

Up to 15 kids will be the chosen to be ‘The voice of childhood’ and represent children by speaking for up to 10 minutes at the 2026 Salisbury Childhood Summit, which will be held on Friday October 30th at Ingle Farm Salvation Army.

The young people selected to be present will receive:

Opportunity to deliver a presentation (up to 10min) at the 2026 Salisbury Childhood Summit to an audience of interested grown-ups who work with children and community leaders.

Video recording of your presentation will be published after the Summit

Speaker rewards and financial honorarium.

Things to consider:

If selected, you will need to be available on Friday 30th October to present.

There will be 3 mentoring sessions which we recommend coming along to so that we can support you in developing your presentation.

Friends and family are welcome to come along and watch, we hope you can have some keen supporters around you as you participate in this exciting project.

This year marks five decades of NAIDOC Week and celebrates the strength, culture and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2026 theme, Fifty Years of Deadly, looks back on the past and forward to the future, shaped by strong communities and proud culture.

Through working together, we can help build a future where the stories, traditions and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respected, shared, and celebrated.

Congratulations to our students on their outstanding learning this term! This week, our preschool children and Year 3–6 students proudly showcased their achievements through an Art Show and Science Showcase. It was fantastic to see so many families join us to celebrate and enjoy the wonderful work on display.

Last week was an incredibly busy and exciting time with our whole school musical, Seussical Jr. Students have been working hard all term in Arts lessons—learning lines, songs, and dances and creating props in preparation for this performance. Watching our students perform with such confidence and enthusiasm on stage was a wonderful reflection of their effort and dedication. Thank you to all the families who attended one of the two performances, and to our staff for their ongoing support of both the students and our Arts program. It was a fantastic celebration of creativity and teamwork!

Our students and educators recently identified some issues with chasey and tag games that needed some work. Students were really keen to lead this so each class brainstormed some of the issues and how these could be solved. They then chose some representatives who met with Miss Anita to share their thoughts and develop some guidelines which meant the games could be fun without being unsafe. Once these were collated, the student forum met again to determine if the final 8 considerations provided the best solutions to the problems.
The students who were part of the forum took their roles really seriously and were very committed to helping solve the issues. They took the solutions back to their class and these are now being trialled for the next 2 weeks, with a feedback opportunity again at the beginning of term 3.
A great example of how student agency is starting to work for us at Para Vista Primary School.
