Cycling Without Age - Gold Coast Accredited volunteers, award winning, safe, fun, dementia friendly and without barriers.

A volunteer community group offering an enjoyable activity for seniors and people with disability by providing FREE rides on adaptive bikes in beautiful locations. Cycling Without Age is a not for profit charity which provides a community service by connecting those no longer able to ride for themselves with their community and the outdoors. Last week, residents from Southern Cross Care, Stretton Gardens made the trip all the way from Drewvale to spend time with us at Paradise Point.

A few of them use wheelchairs, and more than one said they never thought they would feel the wind on a bike ride again. Nothing makes us happier than seeing our trishaws carry everyone along together, no one left sitting out.

One of our resident swans even came by to keep a close eye on things and make sure the group had a good morning.

Thank you, Stretton Gardens, for making the journey and for including Cycling Without Age Gold Coast in such a special day. There are seats by the water waiting for all of you whenever you want to come back.

We love being part of a community filled with those who quietly make an enormous difference.
This morning, one of the highlights was a visit from Gold Coast Benji, who is about to depart on a mission to help people in Nepal.
Benji is a welcome and valued part of our Cycling Without Age - Gold Coast family. It’s always exciting to hear what part of the world he’s jetting off to next — always with the same purpose: to build community, strengthen connection, and change things for the better.

Community partnerships in action 💙🚲

A big thank you to the Gold Coast Community Fund for backing Cycling Without Age Gold Coast. Their funding partnership helps us keep our trishaw rides free and open to everyone, so older people and people living with disability can get out for fresh air, a chat, and that lovely feeling of the wind in their hair.

Recently we had GCCF social work placement students Will, Harry and Toby jump on the bikes with us. They rolled up their sleeves, lent a hand, and got to feel firsthand the joy and connection these rides bring.

Thank you, GCCF, for helping keep our wheels turning, and thank you Will, Harry and Toby for getting involved. We loved having you.

Thank you, Bulk Nutrients for supporting us with a $1,000 grant through your Bulk Gives Back program, and that means a lot to a small chapter run entirely by volunteers.

Every dollar of it is going into safety gear for our volunteers and riding partners. Hi-vis vests so our pilots are seen, helmet brims to keep the glare off. The gear that keeps everyone safe out on the path.

They chose 100 organisations across the country this year, and we made the list. Our pilots will feel this one every time they roll out at Paradise Point and The Spit.

Luiz took his drone up over The Spit last week, and the footage he brought back has stayed with all of us since.

It's beautiful on its own. But every time we watch it, we think about the people who can't get down here anymore. The ones whose world has slowly shrunk to a lounge room and a window. Getting old, or living with a disability, shouldn't mean the coast stops being yours.

That's why the trishaws exist. Someone else pedals, you sit up front, and the morning does the rest. Past the water, out toward the lighthouse, and back again with the salt still on your skin. Every ride is free, and it always will be. Whether it's for you or for someone you love who's been stuck inside too long, there's a seat with their name on it.

Some lovely news to share. Cycling Without Age Gold Coast is one of this year's recipients of Kinetic's Moving Communities Fund, and we're so grateful.

Here's what it means out here. New banner flags so more people can find us by the water, fresh signage on our trishaws and brochures, and support with the insurance that keeps our wheels turning. Small, practical things that add up to one big one: more of our community getting to come along for a ride.

Thank you, Kinetic, for backing what we do. Because of you, more older Australians and people living with disability get to feel the wind, the water, and the simple joy of a morning out.

Sea on one side, wheels rolling as slow as you like. Somewhere between the water and the boardwalk the conversation just starts on its own. Just a morning that costs nothing and stays with you.
