🚨 2nd Alarm House Fire – Carlingford 🚨

At 10:45am today, Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Pump 65 Rydalmere and Pump 27 Parramatta were responded to reports of a house fire in Carlingford. Due to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls and the nature of the incident, the FRNSW Communications Centre upgraded the response to a 2nd Alarm.

On arrival, firefighters were confronted with a large three-level residential home fully engulfed in flames. Crews immediately commenced external firefighting operations from multiple sides of the property. Ladder Platform 27 was deployed to attack the fire from above, providing aerial support.

All residents, including six dogs, safely evacuated the premises prior to FRNSW arrival. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

This was a significant fire, and FRNSW crews worked quickly and effectively to bring the blaze under control. Investigations into the cause will be conducted.

3rd Alarm House Fire Merrylands.

At 12:30pm today, P55 Guildford and P27 Parramatta were called to a house fire on Augustus Street, Merrylands.

While enroute, P55 observed a significant column of smoke and upgraded the response to a 2nd Alarm. On arrival, firefighters were faced with a well-developed fire at the rear of a house and garage, fanned by strong southerly winds.

P27 Parramatta arrived shortly after and assisted with an aggressive fire attack. Challenging conditions included poor water supply β€” the nearest hydrant was buried and the next one capped β€” forcing crews to run hose lines from a hydrant approximately 120 metres away.

Shortly after, a 3rd Alarm was called due to limited access in Augustus Street. Additional appliances were responded to an adjoining street to gain better access to the fireground and support operations.

The owners were in attendance and assessed by NSW Ambulance. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. Investigations into the cause of the fire were conducted.

Do you have an escape plan?

A house fire can strike when you least expect it.

Make sure everyone in your home knows how to get out quickly and safely.

Draw a floor plan, choose a meeting point, and practise it together.

An escape plan only works if everyone knows it.

Be fire safe this winter. www.fire.nsw.gov.au/befiresafe
