Happy Fauna Friday! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

Wildlife cameras set up by our Bushcare volunteers at Northmead Reserve spotted these two juvenile Crimson Rosella taking a bath in the creek! πŸ¦πŸ’¦
Juvenile Crimson Rosella's have a mostly green mottled plummage before they grow into their crimson and blue adult feathers, the diagnostic blue cheeks however confirm that they are Crimson Rosella's rather than Eastern Rosella's who have distinctive white cheeks.

This possum just needed to check out the camera from up close!

During April, volunteers from Marri Badoo Bushcare in Rydalmere set up wildlife cameras at their site to find out what animals were travelling along the Ponds Creek. Possums, water dragons, brush turkeys and a fox were all spotted. Work by our Bushcare volunteers and contractors helps to restore our natural environment and make a better home for native wildlife πŸͺΆπŸ€πŸΎπŸ¦˜πŸ¦ŸπŸ¦‹πŸ¦‰

Have you seen the new sandstone staircase and a metal handrail on the Orange Pye Loop track in North Rocks?

The Orange Pye Loop runs from Speers Road reserve and connects to the Murri Yanna track at its southern end, travelling through Cumberland Red Gum riverflat forest, and Sydney coastal enriched sandstone forest and overlooking sections of Darling Mills Creek.

The new staircase was constructed using recycled sandstone, which previously formed part of a seawall along the Georges River.

The staircase and handrail were installed in steeper areas of the Orange Pye loop to improve accessibility on the track, particularly during wet weather.
