Happy Fauna Friday everyone! 🐦🦆🦉🌿
We just had to share this stunning photo captured by one of our favourite iNaturalist observers and photographer MrGrandWildlife.
This Red Wattlebird was spotted at George Kendall Reserve in Ermington 🐦. Although looking very poetic sitting solo in this image, Red Wattlebirds are often found in small groups. A large and noisy honeyeater, the Red Wattlebird is the 2nd largest honeyeater species in Australia (the Tasmanian Yellow Wattlebird is the largest). The common name refers to the fleshy reddish wattle on the side of the bird's neck. You can find the Red Wattlebird in woodlands and gardens where it aggressively protects food-bearing plants from other honeyeater species 💚.

Free Power for 3 Hours a Day?

Promoted: Renew - Sydney Central Branch.

You’ve probably heard the government speak about the three free hours of power each day - but is it really a good deal? Could it lower your electricity bills, or are there catches you need to understand?

Join us for this online webinar as our energy experts unpack this latest electricity offer, Solar Sharer Offer - sometimes promoted as “three hours of free power.” We’ll explain how these plans work, who may benefit and what to consider before changing your electricity plan.

We’ll also explore how smart meters, rooftop solar and home batteries affect the value of these offers, whether they can work for renters and apartment dwellers, and what other government incentives may be available to help you improve your home’s energy efficiency and reduce your bills.

The webinar is free for Renew members. If not a member, to join go to Renew Membership Portal.

Note: this is not a City of Parramatta Event.

Flowering now - Boronia ledifolia! 🌸🌸🌸

Otherwise known as the Sydney Boronia, this beautiful plant is a member of the Rutaceae family and is endemic to south-eastern Austalia. The leaves emit a strong odor when crushed and the flowers range in colour from pale to bright pink. It is known as one of the earliest boronias to flower, starting in June. You can find it now in flower around Lake Parramatta Reserve 🌿💚. Go for a bushwalk this weekend and check it out!
