Have you seen the new sandstone staircase and a metal handrail on the Orange Pye Loop track in North Rocks?

The Orange Pye Loop runs from Speers Road reserve and connects to the Murri Yanna track at its southern end, travelling through Cumberland Red Gum riverflat forest, and Sydney coastal enriched sandstone forest and overlooking sections of Darling Mills Creek.

The new staircase was constructed using recycled sandstone, which previously formed part of a seawall along the Georges River.

The staircase and handrail were installed in steeper areas of the Orange Pye loop to improve accessibility on the track, particularly during wet weather.

The City Nature Challenge starts TOMMORROW, and anyone in the City of Parramatta can participate! From April 24th-27th, people across the world are finding animals, plants, and more in their neighbourhoods, and sharing their observations to iNaturalist.org. Here’s how you can easily join this challenge from wherever you are, no matter how much (or little) you might know about your local nature. 🌿

Marri Badoo Reserve is calling you

Recently, more than 100 Parramatta residents joined with Greater Sydney Landcare for a community planting day in Marri Badoo Reserve, Rydalmere.

The green dream team planted more than 2,000 native trees and shrubs in the reserve beside Ponds Creek. Volunteers enjoyed a celebratory BBQ generously provided by the Lions Club.

There’s a broader program to plant 10,000 trees with planting days planned for Saturday 18 April and Saturday 23 May (9am to 12noon), and we’re looking for volunteers like you.

Our City’s natural bushland areas thrive under the care of community-led environmental action and local restoration efforts. Join one of the next Marri Badoo planting days (free, no experience necessary):
