Sydney Pacifica is Australia's largest high school cultural festival involving schools, PCYC (Police Citizen Youth Community) clubs, community centres & church groups throughout New South Wales that have Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Pacific Islander & NZ Maori students. It aims to reconnect students to their cultural heritage & learn the importance of traditions, customs & values that stren
gthen their identity & self worth. Sydney Pacifica is a cultural well-being tool that encourages students to believe in themselves, graduate from high school & ultimately know what they want to be or do by forming early educational pathways to higher education, TAFE, employment or trade school. Sydney Pacifica works in collaboration & in partnership with all areas of the community - government, non-government, business, youth organisations, universities & training or education providers - to achieve positive outcomes for school leavers. Sydney Pacifica 2017 is supported by many organisations: NSW Premier's office, Multicultural NSW, High Commissioners, Consulate Generals, Australian Museum, Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Mt Druitt PCYC, Pacific World International, The City of Parramatta Council, Cumberland Council, Blacktown Council, Penrith Council, Blacktown Arts Centre, Parramatta Koori Inter-Agency, Granville Youth & Recreational Centre, Australian Museum, The Tax Factor, Endeavour Wellness, JTA Management, Paul Lahood Funerals, Social Vibe Youth Services, NSW Volunteer Services & the Parramatta Catholic Diocese. PACIFIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (PYLP)
To develop & prepare our high school students for life after school, Sydney Pacifica holds a leadership program during term one & term two school holidays. The Pacific Youth Leadership Program (PYLP) is about developing & empowering individual skills & life skills young people need in order to succeed within their school environment, the work force, their chosen career or higher education. We need strong leadership in our classrooms, our schools & our communities. We can influence significant change through education, guidance, volunteering & mentor-ship to build a community of Pacific & Aboriginal leaders across Sydney. The ultimate aim of the leadership program is to discuss their career pathway, give back to their community & develop strong leaders to support their school & home environment. SYDNEY PACIFICA EVENT
