The Lancer Band

The Lancer Band The Lancer Band - serving the Australian Army since 1885. The Royal New South Wales Lancers has served since 1885.

The Lancer Band is one of Australia's proud Army Bands, serving the nation through musical and military support. Our band started mounted on horseback in 1891 and is now on Facebook and YouTube in the 21st Century. The Lancer Band is a band of the Australian Army, and is made up of talented soldier-musicians who serve Australia as reservists. Our band is attached to the 1st/15th Royal New South Wa

les Lancers, an armoured cavalry regiment based at Lancer Barracks in Parramatta. The Lancer Band performs many roles for the Army and the Community. For entertainment, we perform as a Big Band or Jazz Band, while being able to rock out as a Rock Band for after dinner and public performances. For more traditional functions, we perform as a Military marching band or as a Concert band, and can form classical wind and brass quartets. Thought about a part-time career as a Musician in the Army? Paid gigs and rehearsals, plus the chance to take one of the most unique musical experiences out there. Contact us [email protected] or [email protected] for more info.

On ANZAC Day this year, Lancer Band's MUSN Braxton Jones had the honour of sounding the Last Post at the Jerusalem Memorial in Israel for the ANZAC Day Service. The Jerusalem Memorial is the final resting place of many Australian soldiers, including troopers of the 1st and 15th Australian Light Horse who served in the Middle East in World War 1. Jerusalem is a battle honour carried today by our regiment on both the 1st and 15th Guidons and accordingly is on our band's Drum Major sash.
