Pups by the Pool is TOMORROW! Here's all you need to know 👇

How much is entry? 💰
Entry is $2 per dog! This donation goes toward YMCA Victoria’s fundraising arm Open Doors, helping those in need access programs and services.

When is the event being held? 📆⏰
The event is from 11 am – 3 pm on Sunday 29 March. There will be competitions on between roughly 12pm and 1:30pm.

What’s On?
🐶🏊🏼Dogs can swim in the splash pad and the learn to swim pool. The 33m pool will be closed on the day and is not available for dogs to enter.
🐶💉Stall holders – Local, dog centric businesses in the area from a variety of areas such as dog friendly treats your four legged friends will love and veterinarians!
🏆 Competitions with prizes to be won!

What time are the competitions happening (approximately)?
12 pm – Best Dressed Competition 🕶
12.30 pm – Best Trick Competition 🤝
1 pm – Musical Chairs 🎶

Can we swim with our dog? 🏊
Regular swimming is not permitted on the day for hygiene reasons. People can get in up to their knees however we do not recommend getting fully in the water.

Is there drinking water available for my dog? 💧
There will be dog bowls located around the centre for dogs to drink out of.

Does my dog need to be on a lead? 🐾
If your dog is reactive, we ask that you keep your dog on a lead at all times. This event can be treated like a dog park, so while there is no requirement for dogs to be on a lead, please keep an eye on your dog at all times, be respectful of others to help keep you and everyone else attending on the day safe. If your dog is becoming a bit too excited, it may be good to take them outside for a quick break!

💙A huge thank you for an incredible outdoor pool season 💙

As we wrap up the 2025–2026 outdoor pool season, we want to say a big thank you to our community for making it such a memorable one.

From early morning lap swimmers to long summer afternoons with family and friends, our outdoor pools at Coburg, Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool and Fawkner Leisure Centre have been full of life, connection and energy.

Kicking off early on 25 November 2025, we saw strong participation right through the season—despite a shorter run of hot weather, with most of the heat packed into December and January (and a very Melbourne mix of conditions since!).

We saw a combined 94,302 visits this season—almost 6% on last year.

💦More time to enjoy the water💦

This season, we extended our opening hours to meet demand—delivering over 700 additional hours where the community could enjoy the pools beyond standard operating times.
Whether it was an early morning swim (special mention to the “Icebergers” for their community engagement and stories) or a late afternoon dip, it was great to see so many people making the most of that extra time.

😎Summer of Fun doing what it does best😎

Our Summer of Fun program hit new heights this year:
• 4,380 participants across 21 activations
• Increase of 40% on 2024–2025 and 23% on 2023–2024
• With more to come—Pups by the Pool (PVOP), Inflatable Day (FLC) and Easter Eggstravaganza (OPSAC & FLC) expected to add another 300–500+ participants

We also strengthened how we connected with the community online—and saw that translate into real-world participation:
• 487,000+ people reached
• 966,000+ views
• 5,400+ engagements
• 20,500+ clicks

A huge shout out to our incredible staff who showed up every day—through the heat, busy periods and everything in between—to keep our community safe and welcome.

As we close the season…

Our outdoor pools will begin closing over the coming week:

• Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool: Closing following Pups by the Pool Sunday 29 March

• Coburg Olympic Pool: Last day Thursday 2 April (Lap Swimmers Breakfast – Tuesday 31 March 6.30-8.30am)

• Fawkner Leisure Centre (Outdoor): Last day Thursday 2 April

One last splash at Fawkner:
• Pool Party Inflatable Day: Thursday 2 April, 3–6pm 🎉

Plus one more to look forward to:
• Easter Eggstravaganza at Oak Park: Sunday 5 April, from 10am 🐣

🙌What we’ll remember most🙌

This season reminded us that our outdoor pools are about so much more than swimming.

They’re about connection.
Routine.
Community.
And those small moments that turn into something bigger over time.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Pups by the Pool is THIS SUNDAY at Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool! This is the marquee event of the year, and we can't wait to have you along.

Doors will open from 11am, and your four legged friend can have a swim in our splash pad and learner pools until 3pm! Entry is $2 per dog, with all funds raised going towards YMCA Victoria's Open Doors foundation.
