Want to improve your chances in future job applications?

One of the best things you can do after an application or interview process is ask for feedback. It can provide valuable insights into your strengths and highlight areas where you can continue to develop.

When asking for feedback, consider preparing a couple of targeted questions for the hiring manager, such as:

👉 What skills or experience did the successful candidate demonstrate that I did not?
👉 What skills, experience or development would strengthen my application for similar roles in the future?

Being open to feedback shows professionalism, self-awareness and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

Most interviews include an opportunity for candidates to ask questions. This is your chance to learn more about the role, the team, workplace culture, and the next steps in the recruitment process.

Prepare 2-3 thoughtful questions in advance and avoid asking about information already covered in the job description. Remember, this is still part of the interview.

Well-considered questions demonstrate your interest in the role, your preparation, and your understanding of the organisation. Questions also give you the opportunity to draw attention to possible skills and attributes you wanted to highlight which were not covered throughout the interview.
