Bags of Action!
Nearly 70 Bush Rangers descended upon the Coolbinia Bushland today to demonstrate their care for Country! What a sight to behold ... the bushland covered in high school students creating huge piles of weeds. This year's newly planted natives can now spread their leaves in the sunshine, catch the raindrops and thrive in weed-free soil. Furthermore, the weeding action reduces the fire-risk for the coming summer months.

The Mount Lawley Bush Ranger Cadets, based at Mount Lawley Senior High School, has been operating for over 25 years. The unit engages students from Years 7-11, in practical environmental and conservation projects, leadership training, hiking, and camping. They have contributed to the care of our bushland in previous years, and this weeding initiative is their latest environmental action in our bushland.

What an amazing job the Bush Ranger Cadets did! They collected 30 bags of weeds, in other words ... 30 bags of environmental action! Sincere thanks to Andrew Paul, the Bush Ranger Coordinator, and all his hard-working cadets and other staff. Thanks also go to Ashe, Tracy and Elaine for coordinating the weeding program.

Coolbinia Bushland is visited by many species of small birds. Here is a wonderful selection just from the weekend. We were especially thrilled to see both species of Pardalote.
